Title: Will a sprit mx supreme spring work in a Chery mx low profile switch ?
Post by: freeman7 on Thu, 15 December 2022, 20:13:39
Hi guys,
i would like to replace the springs of the cherry mx low profile speed switches, with the Sprit 30cn springs, the issue is the MX low profile springs seem smaller than regular mx springs, could someone please confirm if this swap will work or not?

below is a photo comparison of the mx vs low profile spring that a geehack member posted:

Many thanks

Short answer, no.

Longer answer, sort of, but no. It may be the same diameter (can't tell by the pic), but the length will not only cause it to be FAR stiffer at the get go but it may even coil bind (bottom out) before the low profile switch triggers. IF it's the same diameter, they could be trimmed to work, however, they will now be even stiffer and they will ramp differently.

Thanks man for saving me from the disappointment of ordering that spring, do you know if i have any options if i want to use a spring that is lighter and actuates faster, the force on the low profile speed switch is 45g with 30cn actuation, i want to use something that has 20-30g force and 15 to 20cn actuation.

from your reply, i should probably measure the diameter and length, but after that, I don't where i can order the springs that would achieve my desired result.

Sprit makes springs for at least some low profile switches.

Just mind the shipping costs.

I couldn't find any on their website, but also, 200 dollars for shipping a pack of 10-dollar springs is abused, this almost looks like they don't want to get orders on purpose.

apart from sprit, any idea on where to get those springs or how to go about this, or should i just abandon this idea.

A few springs sold by other companies are just rebranded Sprit, Novelkeys is one, look around maybe others offer similar.

Or ask Sprit about the shipping, it's told me $200+ for a long time now.
