GB POST (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=123370.0)

Hello Geekhack, I designed Phidias about three years ago, and I have been perfecting it ever since. Now, it has reached its final form.

Why this pricing?
More
I wanted to take a moment to explain the reasoning behind the price point. The hobby has evolved significantly since 2020-2022. In order to ensure the keyboard will be made, I had to lower the minimum required units.

Additionally, the manufacturers involved in this project are among the most reputable and high-quality in the hobby. You can expect to receive a flawless, perfectly finished unit.

Moreover, the keyboard kit includes everything you'll need for a fully functional keyboard. Unlike some other designers and stores that separate the price of the PCB, leading to higher overall costs, our kit provides the full value upfront.

Q&A

More
Why is it called Phidias?
The number phi is present in almost every corner of the keyboard, It is also the primary source of inspiration that has gone into the making of this keyboard.

Why FRL?
After using full-size keyboards with the Function keys on them, I found out that I really didn’t use them that much, so it is more of a personal preference.

Do you have a sound test?
I don’t, however, the keyboard will be built in a stream with Alexotos, date is still TBD.

I want to thank Mr. quark (https://www.instagram.com/quark.works/) for helping me out with the PCB design, this project wouldn’t be possible without him <3, and to all my friends on the KatanaKaji server.

Looks pretty good! Gotta love the red.
Question. Is the brass going to be clear coated?

Appreciated! Yes, the materials that deteriorate fast such as brass and copper will be protected.

It looks great!
Is the PCB going to be solder or HS?

Thank you! The PCB will only be offered in the solder version, as I want to offer as many layout choices as possible.
The PCB support for other layouts will be modified depending on the results of the IC.

Probably because of the pbt keycap, the pc plate with sw l + f, so the sound is not sharp, but this phone has a pretty good sound.

Will this be tadpole PCB mount or Plate mount?

Would love a plateless option.

Would love a plateless option.

The tadpoles are mounted on the plate so a plateless option wouldn't be possible, however, I can offer half-plate options for the group buy.

Looking good so far, I like the design! A hot-swappable PCB and sub-$300 price would make this an insta-buy for me. Any plans for more colors?
