Title: PLEASE HELP!! Some of Mechanical KB not working!
Post by: blakazoom on Sat, 31 December 2022, 19:58:02
My RK61 keys (0, P, ; , Up arrow key and right arrow key.) are not working. I'm planning to make a bridge switch but I don't know where to put it.

Additional problems are the entire row from shift,z,x,c,v,b,n,m,?, until shift are lit even when not pressed. Also my up arrow button only shows green light.

You probably only need to solder one jumper from up arrow to shift but I can't see any traces in your pic to say where it goes.  Can you shine a light on that area to make them show up?

The up arrow just lit and does not register or type in actual. It only shows green light too.

UPDATE:

It temporarily worked when I connected the damaged keys to the black chip.

Black chip?

It's strange that you've lost two columns and even stranger that the top row (numbers) are still working, assuming the controller chip is in the space bar area where there's lots of room.  I don't like it when the connect the switches and LEDs and I don't like it when they hide the traces and this board does both.  I'm going to be good and go to bed so I'm not late on my first day back at work but am annoyed I can't offer a fix yet.

Oh, was misreading - you have just one dead column and that's a 0 not an O - that is much more normal!  Assuming that is the column you're lighting up in the latest video they are clearly all still connected to each other by the red trace so we just need to find where it goes to the controller chip.  The trace disappears onto the other side of the PCB under the green square and doesn't reappear - need a pic showing both the green square and the controller chip.

Shorting somewhere random and getting it to light up could be using any power line not necessarily the correct one - shorting random things could cause damage so best not to :)
