Title: Laptop and sun glare
Post by: Xuan on Mon, 04 October 2010, 12:34:12: Spring time has come (southern hemisphere) and I thought it would be a good opportunity to use the garden as my work place while being exposed to the sun light - they say is good for health you know.
But as the hours start to come by shadows start to disappear and sun glare makes the laptop unusable.

Sandra Bullock really disappointed me.

So I grabbed some card board and tape to build this practical screen roof.

Now the only thing I need is a decent compact keyboard.

Not sure why they seem to be dominating the market. Roofs like these actually aren't all that uncommon among pro graphics monitors, where I guess they're supposed to keep the room lighting from messing with the image.

Do I see a HD201 Gaming there? Not an audiophile highlight but should get the job done for games 'n stuff.

Yes, those are HD201G, I use them to listen to music mostly. Sadly I've not been to much into gaming lately, school plus work is no fun. I've found time to play some scumm adventures and minecraft occasionally, but that's no way to justify gaming headphones, he.

Post by: EverythingIBM on Mon, 11 October 2010, 02:42:41: What I used to do with my thinkpad was turn the LCD brightness to as low as it could go, and then tilt the screen facing towards the sun.
It would actually light up the pixels to full visibility... but it looked like a gameboy colour screen odd enough, with a weird green tint.

However, keeping it out too long caused it to really get extraordinarily hot (the screen). Didn't want to fry it, so, never did it again after that.

Pity... nothing like using your laptop in the nice sun and using the sun's own light for your LCD!
