Title: any alternatives to the Filco FKL01 switch block?
Post by: atarione on Thu, 09 February 2023, 22:13:52
So if I have to I just will order these from Japan for about $20, but before I do are there any more avail / cheaper options to these available in N. America?

Anyways These Filco FKL01 parts go over the top of a cherry mx switch and keep a certain key from being pressed...  amusingly my need to order these from Japan for $20 is due to my ordering a JIS layout keyboard from japan 1/2 year ago..    The problem is the key where ~ would be on a ANSI layout is basically the **** whatever game I am playing game worse than accidentally hitting the windows key button.   As such I would like to block this key until such time as I am bonked in the head and wake up speaking / typing in Japanese fluently?

Anyone know of any other options.. these are $3.50 on Amazon Japan but shipping is another $15 dollars..

Cheers.. thank you..  amusingly looking at the shipped price the Filco ones are about the same price per piece $20~ for 10 pieces vs. $8~ for 4 pieces.  But good to see the alternatives..  I may just order the Filco ones as the I am a sucker for the Japanese on the packaging   even though I just really need the one ..but I may well get the Filco ones because "Japan" ?
