At least its something new for once!
IOMania, leading online shop and provider of high quality input products has announced that on October 8, 2010 they will be releasing two new products aimed at gamers.
The first is a set of WASD + Cursor key Cherry MX compatible keycaps made from rubber! These keycaps have a very rough texture and will come in especially useful in games such as FPS and other action games. No more slipping fingers from sweat in the heat of the battle.
The orange color will help you to instantly spot the right keys at a quick glance. FPS gamers using mechanical keyboards will greatly feel the improvements from this accessory.
The set includes 8 rubber keycaps (A, S, D, W and all four cursor keys) along with a keycap remover. The set will sell for 5500 won ($4,90) (VAT included).
These keycaps will fit most commercial Cherry MX keycaps such as the Majestouch Series (Standard, Tenkeyless and Wireless, excluding Zero series), FC200R (Standard, Tenkeyless), DAS III, Steelseries 6G and Steelseries 7G.
In addition IOMania will also be releasing the IOMania branded "Sniper Hero" mousepad, but I got too lazy to continue translating this stuff at this point. So please imagine another few fancy sentences about how awesome this mousepad is.

I like the idea, but in reality they seem VERY flat. This would probably be acceptable for the direction keys, but if you notice they do not give a good shot of the WASD set, and those would most likely prove to be problematic.
Of course, YMMV..............
-
You're right, they do look very flat. I think it will be very odd to have them in use, but for that really low price, there is not too much to lose, so it might be worth giving them a try.
-
You are right, the price is great, and not much of a loss even if you just used the direction set. Grab a set and give us some detailed pictures :)
Also, it would be interesting to see what everyone thought of the texture......Later

Why must they use such awful fonts?
-
How might I order a set of these?
I would be interested even if just for the keypuller
-
They're using OCR-A, apparently in order to look computer-y. At least they're not using a font inspired by MICR.
-
font preference is subjective, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't matter to Koreans since english is their second language followed by
"yes sir!"
"my lord"
"power overwhelming"
I mean i think in these asian countries using a standard 104 key to press multiple times to get out one kanji, doesn't really matter what type of font they use, and yes i think agree i think that font looks more "computery".
