That's a pretty interesting take in the classical München octoberfest beer.

Anyway, tonight I had Timmermans kriek (cherry), chimay tripple (white label), Innis & Gunn Rum cask and finally a bottle of Westvleteren 12.

Westvleteren 12 was the best of the bunch, I mean it's not rated as the worlds best beer in all categories for no reason.

You got your hands on Westvleteren 12?  Jealous.  Really wish I could find a bottle around here.  I'd store it forever, and wait for the one day when I really feel like I deserve it.  I deserve a tall glass of it right now.

I am drinking beer alone right now.  The wife works nights.  I would be depressed over this, but hey, I used to smoke pot by myself, and it only made me taller and stronger.  Also weirder, but no one was around so who cares?

P.S.  I believe I'm getting an HHKB for my 32nd.  I have no proof, I just feel like it's gonna happen.  Ever since she asked "who would want a keyboard without any letters on the keys?" out of nowhere, I figured she'd been doing some research.  Here's hoping she doesn't get me an HHKB Lite.  Also, elitekeyboards ran out of the one I'd "accidentally left open" on our shared computer a few hours after I fielded that question.  I think I'm getting the white one with printed keys.  I could be wrong, though.  I'd be happy with a steak, but I'd be happier with a steak and an HHKB.

P.P.S.  Sorry about that.  I mini-blogged there.  Gonna go back to drinking Punkin Ale out of my trusty snifter.  Feel free to talk to me, I'm here all week.

First off, you should drink it in a goblet style glass otherwise the head will never fade and the beer will be warm before you can have you first sip.

Getting rare brews are very easy for me since I live in Sweden. We have a government owned chain of liquor stores called "SystemBolaget" which translates to the system company. It's the only legal seller of alcoholic drinks of more than 3.5 ABV.

Prices are a little steep, 0.7 liters of vodka set you back around $30. But the more exclusive stuff can be really cheep. A Rochfort 6 costs about $4. But the best thing is that they can get you ANYTHING.

But if you can't wait for an import we have a brewpub in stockholm that sells Westvleteren 12 for $75 per bottle!

You ought to try them out, Welly.  There are lots of brewpubs in NYC to try out.  The Dogfish Head is strikingly pumpkiny, you'd like it.

This is the point at which you make a thread *****ing about manufacturers using established brands/product names (e.g. PFU) to market cheap products (HHKB Lite - uses non-Topre switches) and trick people into buying them.

Accidentally leave it open

???

Profit!

Grab up some Palo Santo if you want a black beer that will put hair on your balls.  I guarantee you'll be up in a tree singing songs you weren't even aware you knew the words to.

You can get a Brazilian while drinking Palo Santo, but it will be unsuccessful.

I drink beer for the taste, not to get wasted, not to get hairy balls, not to learn tree climbing and new songs - although I suppose those things never hurt.

12% malt is fairly respectable - especially if you're used to drinking that watery yellow American stuff that's flavoured by passing through a horse's kidneys.

I drink the Palo Santo for the taste.  It's a little boozy, but for me, there's nothing like it.  I never drink too much, I've always had a keen instinct on alcohol, unlike my father, who has downed more horse-piss in his time than ten of me in my wildest college days.

I went to a local brewery to watch the Bears game yesterday, and they had a "wild American Ale" aged in wine barrels.  It was awesome.  Great, rich flavor; slight hops and a little citrusy.

Try a cherry lambic, it tastes more like cherry chewing gum than beer (at least the beer most people refeer to as beer).

I actually think it's pronounced WHO ... it says so right on the box.

I do like white beers.

Anyway, to all the Quebec haters - Having lived in Quebec for several years - I can say there is definitely at least ONE thing they do right.

- La Blanche from Cheval Blanc is a good traditional white.

- I just had some St. Ambroise (McAuslan breweries) Citrouille (pumpkin) ale, not bad:

http://www.mcauslan.com/en/ourbeers/sta_pumpkin.htm (http://www.mcauslan.com/en/ourbeers/sta_pumpkin.htm)

- A lot of the Unibroue beers are good, I like La Fin Du Monde (translate yourself):

I'm actually drinking EDME Superbrew Gold British bitter homebrew which is a good strong dark, creamy complex real ale  http://www.camra.org.uk/ (http://www.camra.org.uk/) because I got sick of the chemical cack and the artificially sweetened cider in the local Tesco.

"This traditional real ale has a good creamy head and a golden amber colour. Its rich malty taste is supported by good background bitterness and a fully rounded hoppy flavour. It has a medium full mouth feel and is best served at traditional pub cellar temperature (cool but not chilled)."

"Edme Superbrew Gold Bitter (PL 2002)

Price $18.44

Ease of making ***

Final quality ****

Overall ****

Comments:- Poor head, good condition, colour slightly darker than on the label. Not unpleasant or anything special but has a tang to it, improved up to 2-3 months, RECOMMENDED although I personally prefer the Yorkshire Bitter.

NOTE That EDME and MUNTON’S both give a typical analysis of their beers on the labels, a practice which must be applauded."

For the record: Hoegaarden - phonetic (http://inogolo.com/pronunciation/d1149/Hoegaarden).

It used to be quite good for a white beer, but Inbev seems to have altered the recipe a bit. Now it seems to have more Coriander in it and might give a hint of soap.

They say for best results, when undergoing an outpatient procedure using Scrotox, you'll get best results after removal of hair.  Palo Santo is therefore contraindicated and the cosmetic surgeon will not be held liable for what might at first appear to be a less than successful evening of the folds.
