Hello everyone, we’d like to share some news about the Della 960.

We’ve received Prototype v6, which features a number of design improvements.

This prototype has been finalized, and we are moving forward with production for sale.

[Changes]
 - Addition of silicone parts
 - Addition of a copper part to the top part
 - Additional assembly screws
 - Inclusion of a warranty card
 - Discontinuation and remake of the existing screw tray due to the added assembly screws
 - Discontinuation and remake of the existing PCB and plate due to structural changes

  - Final color (electrophoresis beige)
  - This is the final detail improvement and color confirmation prototype. If there are no problems, this will probably be the final prototype.
Prototype v4 production decision due to prototype v3 quality issues

- 30/07/2024 - Prototype v4 picture update

- The production period for the prototype v4 was approximately 7 months, and I was informed that mass production was not possible at the current factory due to processing difficulty.
Therefore, we plan to contact other manufacturing plants to proceed with production.
(Because the current factory is also a famous factory, the success of production at other factories is also uncertain. There is a possibility of mass production by sacrificing some parts, such as changing materials, but I have no intention of changing parts other than what I thought. As a result, mass production may not be possible in the end.)

thank you. I've tested many other parts, but in the case of the keystroke sound, I plan to test it additionally through a reinforcement plate prototype.

Interesting project (even though it's not for me, but not everything should be catered toward me XD)

1000 USD does seem steep, but considering the more complex design, the large amounts of copper and the low moq (Like 30moq) it seems like it's fine, but I'm not too well versed about machining and quoting so keep in mind of that.

I am focusing on the design elements that stimulate the mind and the direction I pursue.

 We are aware that the della 960 has an high price point unlike regular keyboards.
This is because I did what I wanted without compromising a single thing in terms of price.

This will be the most satisfying keyboard for me.

Honestly, if you end up somewhere near $1000 I'm in. If you end up around $1500 I'm probably out 'cos I can't afford that. Either way, that side is fantastic. I love your aesthetic. Really good stuff.

 Yes, we are thinking about selling after securing instock to control uncertain variables in the first sale.
(The actual defect rate for each fabrication has not been established, so if it is proceeded with GB, the keybaord quantity may be insufficient or excessive.)
 We are not a big company, so we can't prepare a lot of quantities with instock.

(edit) since we're talking more than $1000 per unit we're in bespoke luxury item territory - could we have plate files, or a dedicated ISO and ANSI plates at least :) I appreciate the standard PCB support (great future proofing), but your pursuit of perfect sound should also include the switch plate...

Thanks for sharing this project, it is one of the most interesting design-wise TKLs that have seen for a long time. Since the first day, I've been lurking and wondering how it would end up, the first prototypes. They are stunning!
It is very likely that I won't be able to buy one of the units due to its price, but I would love to try/see one someday.

I have some quick questions/suggestions from my side that you may find useful:
- Not sure which type of daughterboard you are planning to use, but would you consider using a Unified USB daughterboard? It is an open-source project and I believe it is aligned with the concept of using well-known electronics, as you are doing with the h88nu.
- Design-wise, I also would say that I would prefer to have the USB port located in a lower position. It will be safer and will be, at least to my eyes, more aesthetically pleasing.
- I've seen your answer about the aluminium middle piece, but would you consider the usage of other materials as optional?

Please continue to pursue your dream board and have some fun while doing it.

I think $1000~1500 is for one-off keyboard. I suppose any keyboard groupbuy above $1000 just didn't get a reasonable quote from the manu.

2. We tried it, but we thought it was not perfect in terms of design.
3. We are not thinking about changing the material of the middle plate yet. This is our first try and we feel it's important to create what we think is best. You can try and review it later.

Yes, not all keyboards have the same purpose.
We do not know the exact risk or QC scope for the factory.

  Therefore, we plan to make all products and proceed with instock. (This method helps to eliminate all problem elements. This means small quantity. Limited budget)

  In addition, there were no compromises in favor of design, material and structure processing.
This keyboard is not a universally reasonable keyboard.

A 3 piece design where the bottom copper piece does not do anything functional except make the case look good from the sides when it is placed on a table? Why not make the bottom piece a frame so that the cost comes down? You say the price is more than 1000$ yet you can't support WK layout? Even though the PCB has the sockets for WK? Your plate does not do anything functional where the WK key is located. This design appears more of a needless resource consumption than a balanced design that optimizes both the resources it consumes and the design.

What's the point of any luxury mechanical watch, when a Casio G-Shock will outlast about everything and resist drops, water, extreme temperatures, etc., with absolute precision (since they have atomic / GPS sync), while mechanical watches are much less precise, require maintenance, and will break down if dropped or subjected to magnetic fields..

You understand that custom keyboards are pure luxury items too right ? They have absolutely no utility over an OEM keyboard - these are now also made of metal if you want with lubed switches and gaskets etc. The difference is of course execution, like the afore mentioned watches.

I like your design and I like total heavy weight of this keyboard. Most importantly, with a copper bottom, adding alu beneath the pcb is cool idea I've never seen before. Look forward to the gb soon
