There are layoffs everywhere now it seems, especially at companies that seem to be going well.

Truth.  And if you look into why companies are cutting jobs and costs, they main reason listed is inflation... but if you read into current inflation it's most likely caused by corporate price increases.  Kinda doesn't make sense.
