Title: IBM Portables' Keyboards
Post by: Sam on Sun, 17 October 2010, 20:34:05
This P70 is currently at $15.  Might make for an interesting keyboard for a collector of IBM, though I don't think it's useful on anything but the P70.

From the same seller, an IBM 5155, which I believe has a mushy keyboard, but not certain.  Presently at $39.

Of course if you really want one of those and can't wait, there's a BIN for a mere $3000.

Mushy keyboard on the 5155? No frigging way. The 5155 keyboard is uber-clicky. It's clickier than an IBM AT Model F. (I have both)

My 5155 cost me $20 (Canadian!) and I picked it up, so no shipping. I could have had a second one for another $20, but I stupidly declined. (I've always been anti-PC, but didn't know of the awesome clickiness of the keyboard)

Actually, it's quite useless. There's not much useful that runs on it and it's not as interesting as a Kaypro. I just like to keep it on my desk to click the keys. I like how the keyboard folds up easily, so if I need more desk space (for tea, cookies, etc.), I just fold up the keyboard.

Ok, then it must have been the Compaq portable I was thinking of as being mushy.

I've got a Compaq Portable III and it's definitely mushy. ("mush city"... if there is such a place)
