Sample Update 10/21/24

I finally got DROP's DCD Samples. Im pretty impressed by them, even more than when they did DCD Bird Jungle the colors are simple amazing. The Legends and clarity with no blurr. There still need some teaking in the white but other than that we are almost ready for the pre order. Thank you for the support

Hello everyone and welcome to my newest IC for The White Devil.

I started watching the show after falling in love with the model kits. All the markings come from different parts of it. Like the arms for the mods, spacebar for the skirt(dippers), obviously the alphas for  the chest part of it. The numrow are the buttons from the cockpit. The main reason I fell in love was the customization and how much details a model kit can get. It’s truly mind blowing. That is what I’m trying to show here and my love for it. I hope you like the render simulating that classic scene from the show!

Right now I'm waiting on GMK sample, but I'm reaching out to 2 other dye sub manufacturers. It will all depend on the quality of that.

I really like both samples on its own right. GMK colors are in my opinion nicer. I think they did great both manus. I haven't picked the manu just yet. Let me know what you think.
Gmk blue needs a little fixing, but the rest are pretty spot on.

Maybe consider going with Keyreative Cherry (KCH). Should be cheaper and they have a lot of experience with complex prints on keycaps I would say.

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for the support so far. I understand your concerns with GMK and UV printing, but I thought GMK expo and terminal looked amazing. I was basing me on that. gmk expo, nor terminal are half as busy and cross-eye inducing as how busy and overly embellished this set is.

I like the concept but it needs terribly tuned down to be something many ppl will want aside from literal kids.

Also GMK pricing on this is either going to be absolutely insane or GMK will outright deny the set due to IP concerns...

I'd see what KKB or SP can do as personally I do not like dye sub, and the idea that people can get these complex of designs on a dye sub without it being fuzzy and looking like **** in comparison to doubleshot/etc? Those people can keep their copium.

Just wanted to add some actual input/suggestion for what I think would be better, probably just reduce how busy the alphas are, I would reduce the amount of design on them so it simply has that vent type pattern on the bottom right as if it were a sublegend. Or perhaps could even piece together specific symbols used throughout gundam as sublegends. I think the mods are overall fine, but when its going across the entire subset of keys its just going to be a bit much for many many people.

A few things:

1) This is so busy. It hurts my eyes to look at.

2) You will need to tone down all of the keys to something more doable if you want GMK to do this. This looks like a pad print nightmare. Maybe just start with the colorway and go from there?

Hello!

The nickname the White devil is from the show. That's the nickname they gave him because the Rx78 is mostly white, has horns and has killed a bunch of people.

I get why people are so surprise of the busy look, but my love for gundam comes from gunpla which is basically Custom Gundams. This is the intended look. Here are some of my reference that I used for it. I understand that people are not familiar with it, but that was my goal. Thank you! I’m looking into simpler design but I'm not a fan so far

Of course, the design is your own choice, but when you want to market to enthusiasts, you can't decide what people want to put on their keyboards.

I get that this is inspired by decal and detail heavy gundam model kits, I build them myself, but for me, when it comes to keyboards and keycaps... really busy designs don't do it for me. Obviously this seems to have a lot of effort put into it which I'm happy for as a gundam fan but I personally wouldn't be interested in picking this up as it is, for a couple reasons beyond just personal taste:

1. UV Print + Cost of GMK with this amount of detail

2. Concerns about MOQ

Also, I get that the name of the set comes from the show, but in other contexts it really isnt a good name and I don't see vendors enthusiastic to take on a set with that name.

I like the design. Yes, it is busy, but it fits the theme and I like having something less minimalist as an option. But I would also second this suggestion.

Sorry mate, there's no denying that the "nickname" has too many negative cultural connotations to be helpful for this project. GMK will likely require a name change anyway.

In my opinion, this is exactly what novelty kits are perfect for. You could still offer these more detailed designs as separate add-on kits, but a more simplified base kit with traditional GMK legends would go a long way and appeal to many more people (including RX-78 fans like myself).

I got some samples in! So I'll be working on that over the weekend

Changes:
- I'll be taking recommendations for the name changes feel free to let  me know
- I'm not making big changes designs. There are already sets that are simple colorways for Gundams. Still no novelties. I'll probably share the cancelled novelties kit.

If you're okay with ABS/UV print, Keyreative also has UV print ABS that's pretty affordable. They can also do transparent colors, I think?

I'm still waiting for the samples from DCD. I have seen some pictures from the manu but im still waiting for them before the final decision

It seems there was a delay in the samples process of 4 weeks. The current ETA is sometime December for them and the Pre order to be beginning of January. I'm very sorry about this but it's out my hands. In other news there will be a CSTM80 shell.
