Seems pretty tame to me. It is the Japanese we're talking about here.
Personally I just want the measurements of the keyboards so I can implement the keyboard geometries in the XServer :D.

The method this guy uses is preferable, although it's probably only acceptable for applying to slim-profile keys. http://nicozon.blog64.fc2.com/?video_id=sm5790673 The key part (sorry for pun) is 5 min 44 sec in, where the stickers are heated to fit each key seamlessly.
