Title: How to identify switches on Ajazz Geek AK33 keyboards?
Post by: Stupidface on Fri, 23 August 2024, 02:25:21
Is there a way to determine what type of switch a particular Ajazz Geek AK33 uses by reading the barcode on the back of the unit:

[attach=1]

Briefly, I need to replace a black switch (i.e. non-clicky) AK33 that has a defaced (hence no helpful barcode) label.

Unfortunately, the people flogging used ones (all I can find) seem to know even less about keyboards than I do.*  While I suspect I may be on the wrong track with the barcode, I am hoping there is some sort of "tell" on these keyboards that reveals what keyswitches are installed on a particular unit at a glance.

Can anyone help?

(And yes, I know: I can always ask a seller to prise off a keycap and take a photo.  However, I am seeking some way to quickly eliminate the clicky ones without having to pester every seller of every Ajazz I see.)

Alternatively, if anyone knows of a source for new, non-clicky units, I am all ears.  It isn't much fun playing guessing games with the people offering used ones, but as I say, used ones are all I can seem to find.

*Which I did not think was possible, but there you are.

You can probably get one even cheaper on Ali Express, but I can't speak to the reliability of any of those vendors so I did not link them.

1. Some interesting layout choices on this little guy.

2. Based on this pic (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71oh7IJoHHL.jpg) from the Amazon listing's reviews, you maybe on to something that the bottom label could help you, but I'm afraid it would be a lot of research to track down images and cross-reference.

I use to be an Ajazz vendor a long long time ago. Ajazz uses Huano made switches in all their pre-builts. So if an AK33 comes with say Red, Blue or Black switches, it is most likely a Huano Red, Huano Black or Huano Blue etc. Hope that helps.
