Hello everyone here, I am very new to this scene, and I am currently running a Keychron V1 Max. I want to grab a metal keyboard within the budget of around 350 CAD, and I would pair it with some PBT keycaps and silent tactiles (Outemu Yellow Jade V2), this would be my first real custom keyboard, and I had a few requirements c:
- QMK (real QMK no crappy VIA implementations) or VIAL (aka QMK ;D)
- Comes with stabilizers in the package (Neo stabilizers from QKs is one of them)
- (As the title says) 60%, 75%, or 80%
- Great designs (Mode Sonnet, QK80MK2 is some examples)
- Got choices for plate (I wanna grab a POM one since it is the softest bottom out and I want that, PC is still kinda hard for me in terms of bottoming out)
Do you guys have any recommendations? Please let me know!! :D

i have a qk75 with a alu plate, but the bottom out is very soft, due to their silicon gasket system. while the plate material certainly has some influence, i would not dwell on the pom to much. my envoy with pom plate is not as soft as my qk75 with alu plate.

Oooooh interesting

Do you think the QK75N or the QK80MK2 are some good choices?
-
NO. neither the QK75 nor the QK80 are maintained in the qmk firmware github repository. if you just want to use via/vial fine, but if you want to version control your configuration with git...

I would just like to compile my own firmwares :p

Then don't buy a QwertyKeys board.
Personally I really enjoy the Mode Envoy, but I don't know whether that fits within your budget. Luminkey had some decent offers, but I never touched one, so it's just on paper. divinikey has their 65 on sale. Also the Daring Run boards seem pretty good, divinikey has the 6P (60 + numpad). (I didn't check qmk status for Luminkey and Daring Run)

That's why the Mode Sonnet is one of my picks, since it looks good, got great build quality, got lattice block ;D, aand qmk support directly on the repo C:

60%: Lucky65 V2
75%: Hi8/Rainy75
80%: Galaxy80
