Title: Where to buy HHKB PRO 2
Post by: codek on Fri, 29 October 2010, 19:07:17
I'm looking to buy one of these bad boys.  Just got a couple of model m's off ebay but it's way too big.

I want the smallest keyboard and I do not need a tenkey.

I kinda want the arrows so I was into a maybe japanese version or maybe I'll stick with the US version.

Cheapest I found was about $300 US after tax/shipping.  I'm in Cali.

Is there anything more compact than the HHKB PRO 2?

edit: arrow keys are nice but not a necessity, compact size is a must

Yes there is:

On a more serious note, 250-300-ish is what you are going to get for the HHKB keyboards.. they don't usually go below 200 even if used.

correct.  I used to live less than 5 miles away from them and they don't have a will call/pick up option.  ghetto.

anywhere I can pick up these badboys used.  I never see it on ebay and there have been a couple here but not too many.  I don't mind used at all.

awesome those look nice and they are mechanical.  is there a huge difference in quality between this and the HHKB PRO2 like the HHKB PRO2 VS HHKB LITE or is it just a preference/name brand thing?

There are at least a few boards that are more compact than the HHKB however I don't think that many will retain the arrow keys and most are not good key switches.

The HHKB Lite does have the arrows however it is rubber dome.

I must admit feeling somewhat remorseful after buying my HHKB however this was not because it was not a good purchase, more that I have not really used it enough to justify the cost. I whole-heartedly endorse the HHKB; I have a HHKB Lite also however I only bought this to complement the HHKB.

I'm in the same boat.  Before I came to this forum, I thought I would never spend more than $40 on a keyboard and now I'm considering spending $250 and I've been only here for a day.... scary

What other boards are there?  I'm just looking for mechanical and compact, I can live without the arrow keys

On the Pro version of that keyboard, the left key is Shift and the right key is 0 or 1.
