Thought this would be the right place to post this announcement:

I'm working on a typographic wall calendar, made of two thousand and eleven keyboard keys. Last year I did one made of 2010 keys.
You can get a visual impression of the design from the attached pictures.
This year I turned the design into a Kickstarter project. Kickstarter is a public funding platform for design and art projects.
Have a look and enjoy the work!

I also was invited to a lengthy interview about my design process:

On my website i wrote a bit more in depth about the piece:

And there is even a concept text and picture as downloadable PDF:

Nice project! What I find pretty creepy is that I can tell most of those keyboard brands by simply looking at the keycaps. I need to get out more.
-
Awesome vision, execution. Welcome to Geekhack.
-
Thanks, for the nice feedback!
@sixty i realy like your keyboardporn.com website! awesome!
-
What a waste! I can spot several Cherry MX double shot key caps in the result. A couple of ALPS-compatible keys in the "sorting" picture even has its switch still attached.
I suppose that the "artist" just tossed the rest of the keyboards in the bin after he was done. *sigh*

@Findecanor not at all! i keep them all - they can be reused for new messages. But not for typing on a keyboard. If you want to find out more read here http://bit.ly/q_and_a_cal (http://bit.ly/q_and_a_cal)

Want...
My wall look pretty bare anyways :D.
When will the posters get sent out? I want to order one, but I'll be moving around the country around December 21 - January 5.
-
Yeah, but is it full NKRO?
-
all i can say is, "why?!".
one of these days I have to come up with a wacky project idea to post on that site.
hey, i know: pledge $1000 for me to take a week off to come up with a wacky idea to post on that site that you can pledge money to.

Prints will be ready by December 7th. Shipping starts on December 8th. If you leave me a note while backing i can also arrange a delayed shipment.

The "making of" blog entry was a nice read. We have another artist on the board here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=6875) who has been collecting 800+ keyboards so far which apparently will end in a similar fate. So far he has still not announced what they will be used for in the end.
I think I will be ordering a print too!
PS: One day someone should make a mosaic out of keycaps.. with all these different types of yellowed keys it should almost be possible
-
I think it's seriously awesome.
-
Nice project! But I won't be truly impressed until you make a keyboard controller to read that huge key matrix and have it connected to your PC. When you press a key for any given day, your schedule for that day pops up.

with N_key rollover.

Gotta have diodes too

(Did i mention that world wide shipping is included? - Yes it is!)
Also thank you very much to people who pledged till today and supported the campaign by sharing on twitter and facebook.
