Nice Ortek Mini (http://cgi.ebay.com/Ortek-MKB-84-SX-Clicky-Mechanical-Keyboard-MINT-/170560176390#ht_500wt_1064). It's not mine. Probably has Fukkas, though some did not. This one is a MKB-84 SX where mine were MCK-84's, so there's a chance this has different switches. They've been seen in the wild with Complicated whites, XM's or Fukkas. Nice board either way.
-
This is mine, and it's every bit as nice as I describe. I believe these to be fukkas, but how do I tell the difference between white alps and fukkas?
-
The description below in the auction says Fukka's. So I guess no white Alps.
-
I assumed they were fukkas from didja's ebay listing. Now they could be white complicated alps. I have a key puller handy, is there any way to tell them apart w/o taking apart a switch?
-
Confirmed: they're fukkas.
-
I thought it was, but that post scared me a bit.
We'll see what it goes for. I am selling it only to justify more space savers.
-
The irony I that this IS a space saver, and considerably more rare than a mini model m. Since this is slightly different than either of the ones i have, I might be interested in it myself. I prob shouldn't have posted it. :)
-
Oh and thanks for confirming the fukkas.
-
...or if you have a mini, trade me for it :)
-
Whatever happened to international postage? :)
-
@ MissileMike.
You turning down my $43 offer ? :frown:
-
As tempting as that 43$ offer was, I had to pass. If I ever have one again, I would be a fool not to take such a generous proposal :)
As for international shipping, I would do it for a GH member as long as they paid for it :)
-
International Shipping shoud be approximately $43 from me to you.
Edit. Nope, it's approx $49.25. to send a certain keyboard (heavy).
-
Are you going to do it Ebay Red Cherry Hong Kong Chinese style and sell the keyboard itself for $1 and shipping for $43?
Was thinking of trading a Comptek2wk NIB for it, but on second thoughts, I would like a NIB in return as I now only collect NIB/NOS small Kbds because (1) No more room for storage (2) I have developed a fear of germs.
Read somewhere here, there's a member who also have a bottle of sanitizer next to his Kbd for use by anyone before touching his tool (keyboard), that started me thinking about germs.
-
Germs are everywhere. Fear of germs is irrational.

Germs are everywhere. Fear of germs is irrational.
While it's true that germs are everywhere, unless you really just want to get sick or really looking to beef up your immune system, it probably makes sense to avoid or clean items shared by large numbers of people. So while I tend to agree that fear of germs isn't healthy but respect for them perhaps is. Items that can have high concentrations of germs/viruses should be treated with appropriate respect. I bet you wouldn't want to drink water contaminated with fecal bacteria so why would you want to get it on your hands and transfer it to your mouth, nose or eyes? Of course one still has to live in the world and to completely avoid bacteria would mean living in a bubble.
You can google up tests showing that bacteria and viruses can survive for two plus days on dry surfaces and weeks on wet ones. Some testing is interesting. For example if you're paranoid about public bathrooms, you quite likely worry about toilets and door handles but from I've read sinks and urinal flush handles test worse.
If you stay in hotels, many really don't clean the rooms well at all. Some items probably get a quick vacuum at best most of the time unless it becomes stained or a state health inspection is coming up. These include things like the carpet, walls, bedspread and throw pillows. Bedspreads in particular might get cleaned once or twice a year normally. The bathroom is an area that should be thoroughly cleaned but often isn't. Shower curtains, the floor, shower floor and toilet handle in particular.
My take is there's no point in taking a chance when you can quickly wipe down the obvious places that carry germs in a hotel room. Some candidate areas - TV remotes, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom faucets, phones, toilet handle, hair dryer, ice bucket, thermostat, microwaves/refrigerators handles/buttons, alarm clock, pens/pencils, glasses, and room literature. All are touched but are rarely or never cleaned.
I stayed in a rooms last week run by upscale chains but one had glasses not well cleaned and another had some small spots of brown material around the door handle inside of the bathroom. Kinda disgusting once I noticed it. Maybe should have complained but just wiped it off and didn't worry about it. And I always just assume the carpet, throw pillows and bedspread etc are probably dirty.
Am I paranoid? Maybe. But just cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you. And I just saw Randy Quaid and his wife interviewed and compared to them I'm not paranoid at all,.

We're really off-topic here but anyway... I simply stated that "fear of germs" is irrational, not that you should completely ignore them :) My g/f is a diet and health-hygene specialist in a kindergarten so I get to hear lots of preaching about food and germs :P Luckily she's not phobic about it.
I believe the growing public paranoia regarding germs is rising mostly from TV commercials. It's like they're trying to convince us that all germs are bad and need to be killed, including those on your skin. That, of course, is not true as the human body can deal with a lot before getting ill.
Anyway, to keep things short, here's a nice video from the late George Carlin:
-
I know it's off topic and I am familiar with that Carlin clip, it's funny. I was traveling last week and caught a bad cold. I just wonder if I had been a bit more careful if I could have avoided it so I'm a bit torqued with myself right now thinking that.
-
Monkeys aren't afraid of bodily contact.
That's just typical of advertising agencies to have a fine nubile simian specimen to attract attention.
We're really off-topic here but....
Sos, I only wanted to state that I collect new clean keyboards.
-
Let the record show you could eat off my ortek :o
-
Ended at $202...
-
Gratz
-
Too rich for my blood. Was skeptical it was worth a NIB mini, but no more.
-
Yah I saw you had the bid for a while, Ricecar, but it shot up in the last minute.
-
Dang I missed it. Glad it broke $200 for you but sorry I wasn't around when it ended.
-

If it too was a NIB, then it'll be a different kettle of fish, anyways, my NIB Mini was purchased for less than $200 last year.
-
Ha, digi are you already missing the one you just sold?
-
I still have some that I use in rotation with other daily drivers at work and at home. :)
If I didn't there is no way I would have sold the other one. I'm a huge fan of these which is why I wanted the one posted, it was slightly different than the ones I have. I have an ISO layout without winkeys and ANSI layout with winkeys, both have vertical enter. So the one MMike auctioned would have given me 3 styles of the keyboard. I should have accepted his offer early on to trade straight across for a space saving model m.
