Title: Whats your keyboard stance (or hold position)?
Post by: KillerBee on Sun, 31 October 2010, 22:09:15
This being naturally a keyboard forum filled will different keyboards, but what about the way we hold our keyboards to type?

Do you have yours in a table, does it sit in the keyboard tray, or just in your unique way?

I put the keyboard in my legs that are propped up in my bed while I control the mouse with my left hand.

This is to look at the monitor to the left and see TV to the right.

P.S. If you enlarge the monitor pic you can see the GREEN Dummy Dont Panic Key Fentek sent me in my thrid order to them.

How do you hold your board?!? (sexual pun not intended)

I usually keep it on the desk,

but away from the desk I just plonk it on my lap.

If standing I'd use a firm grip,

but if lounging on the floor something more flexible is called for.

Thats a funny way to show the different stances.

The lady holding the keyboard like a gun looks alot like Sarah Palin

No tray. I'd break it. And I'd hate it ever before.

I tend to place the keyboard on my desk, rotated slightly to the left, then my left wrist rests on my knee, as I sit with my legs crossed most of the time (and also turned somewhat to the left.

And my touch-typing technique is non-standard. I have more keys under my left hand than normal and I hit some keys with either hand depending on what's the fastest or most natural at a given moment,

Seen here with customer service aid.

Though lately I've been feeling a little more conventional, so I've removed the book.

When I'm not actually typing, I try to put my hands in my lap or let them hang down by my sides. It helps a LOT to fend off RSI.

I don' like tea, it gives me a headache.

That keyboard-balancing video would be more interesting if he was a hot chick. Not that a hot chick would need that skill, but it looks like a good core workout.

I try to do this as well, but sometimes forget. This is even more important when it comes the mouse in my case.

I think I've started doing it naturally, as in without thinking... Much of my typing technique developed this way too, i.e. sparing me RSI, e.g. by saving on unnecessary movements.
