Hi all,

In collaboration with Omnitype, I'm pleased to announce that Red Devils is making its return!

In case you didn't know, this set is inspired by the South Korean national football (soccer) team:

To all of you who are against centered icons, can you articulate why? I might be able to be convinced.

In my mind, centered icons fix the inconsistencies present in traditional icons, where only the Shift and Caps Lock keys are top-aligned, and Tab, Backspace, and Enter are all center-aligned. Moreover, this top-aligned icon-only Shift placement differs from the Shift placement in traditional icon+text legends, which are center-aligned.

This is a huge inconsistency within the design of traditional Cherry legends, and I would love to hear the arguments for why this is preferred.

FWIW I dig the centered mods.  I feel like the majority of icon mods are not centered and it's not like it's bad but centered is more symmetrical and consistent.

I think the top left justified icon mods look much better than the centered, they match the alphas better and make a more cohesive look. Keys like tab are too large of an image to have top left justified and are fine being center. Keys like backspace and enter have thin lines and a small arrow that may get lost in top left justified keys. Shift and caps lock are larger images of an arrow, similar in size to the legends on the alphas, and to me make the more sense to therefore be aligned with the alpha legends. If they were text+icon it would make sense to have them center justified to match the positioning of other text keys like control, alt, etc.

Overall, dixie mods won't be that much of a deal breaker for me, but I would still prefer top left justified mods.

Edit: Actually, it'd be pretty freakin sweet to see hangul+icon mods for R2.

Yes, that much is obvious. What bothers me is that this same alignment is not applied to Tab, Backspace, and Enter.

For me it's the consistency with the icon itself and their immediate neighbor, with icon+text the text help with alignment.

OG mods make sense optically rather than "in paper" and part of it is because of the composition (or absence of text). A designer can argue this stance but also it make sense, that's why it was created that way, anyways.
