This set is inspired by the Night Owl theme for VS Code, 
originally created by Sarah Drasner.

As a developer, Night Owl has been my go-to theme since the day I discovered it. 
The calming deep blues, soft purples, and pastel yellow highlights 
make it easier on the eyes during long coding sessions — especially late at night. 

Over the years, this theme has stuck with me through countless projects and bug hunts. Hence it was finally
time to create the same aesthetic in plastic.

Keeping extraneous keys out to keep cost down is critical nowadays. This isn’t the era of MOQ 1500 kitting

Do you have plastic color chips? Don’t even wanna know the codes, but everyone who remembers GMK Nord is wary of multi color set matching. Let’s see a pic of them in the sun when you have a chance.

I will wait for actual color matched samples before GB anyways. In talks with GMK!  So stay tuned for that update!

Currently Norde kit is not planned. However, it depends on whether there is enough demand for it. Please make sure to add that as a feedback to the IC form. I will check those later and talk to vendors if it makes sense to add more kits.

I don't think it matters that it’s a Git-themed set, though it does remind me of GMK Monokai Material and GMK Dracula without quite capturing the same appeal. The colors also feel a bit muted compared to the actual Night Owl theme (especially the green and blue). Perhaps matching the alpha color to the Explorer font in Night Owl would help, though I’m not entirely certain. It’s also missing the orange from Night Owl. Because the colors seem a bit off, I’m not fully confident it will be color matched properly, so I’ll have to pass on this one.

This set is definitely inspired by the Night Owl theme, but it’s not intended to be a 1:1 replica. One of the biggest challenges in translating a digital theme into a physical keycap set is how differently colors behave across mediums. What looks bold and vibrant on a backlit screen—especially in an IDE—can vary a lot depending on your monitor, display settings, and even the lighting in your room.
Because of that, some creative decisions had to be made to strike a balance between capturing the essence of Night Owl and working within the limitations of physical keycap production.

Regarding color matching: as I mentioned in an earlier post, I’ve been in touch with GMK, and they’ll be producing physical color samples for the set. I won’t start a GB until I’ve had a chance to review them and share final colors with everyone. I want to make sure what you see is what you get, as closely as possible.

That said, I totally understand if it doesn’t quite click for you. Feedback like this is super valuable and helps me make better design choices in the future. So thank you again for being honest!

If there is enough demand for this then why not! Please fill up the IC Form. Helps us a ton when revisiting kitting during the end phases of the IC.

I reckon for that particular deskmat, remove the power plugs. Looks cleaner that way.
I really like the idea that only upon removing the keyboard, that the 404 Keeb Not Found is seen (otherwise there's no hint at all).
You might have to play around with the size to ensure it remains covered on like 60/65% keyboard placement.

Are the Novelty Enters completely UV-print or a combination of double-shot and UV-print? The latter would be preferred I think.
I would suggest the R1 Exclamation Mark width in the triangle looks a little thin and inconsistent with the other icons. Similarly the owl head brow lines perhaps could be simplified with thicker lines to be more consistent with the other novelty icons?

To be honest, problem with sublegends is 2 folds.
1. There arent some sublegends that would instantly work with the theme
2. It will make the set look cluttered.

Dont get me wrong, I am a sucker for sublegends as well! But honestly, I dont think they are a good fit for this set!

I will look into what can be done if anything because of strict design contraints specially distance between the objects.
Currently what is planned is the novelty enter are UV printed and not a combo because a combo would just mean (for example) the center yellow line / branch will be doubleshot. It does not change much to be honest. I will, however, talk with GMK to know if something can be improved!
