Hello everyone! I am happy to finally be able to announce the group buy details for the 21XX.
The 21XX will be running as an unlimited group buy with CannonKeys as the lead vendor in June 2025.

History

The unsaver layout was originally featured on the IBM 3290 Model 1 keyboard and to my knowledge predates the more common 122 layout. IBM's boards featuring the layout have always been highly desired in the hobby and back in the early 2010s there were a few Cherry G80-2*** boards modified to have the unsaver layout. The first time I saw one of these customized boards I was amazed and started looking for a way for me to obtain them. With minimal luck and no good alternative available I started drafting the 21xx design back in 2021. It took a few years but suddenly I had a prototype on hand and a lot of people showing interest so I decided to perfect the design to my tastes hoping to one day be able to offer it to everyone.

Thanks to Shark for having a great wiki on IBM keyboards that let me check what came first ;D

Loving the updates. A question though: Will there be options/extras for the main plate as well or is it plateless only? I could really use a plate/plates for the main cluster since I want to mill max it.

I would be perfectly happy with plate files. Please, if you can I would happily have some plates cut. I'm guessing they would have to be more than one

I'm so glad that the layout I used for my unsaver will be available on the 21xx.

Personally I think WK and no blockers makes the most sense visually, since there is nothing to interrupt the keycaps. Having WK blockers with blockers around the arrow keys also makes sense visually.

Not my type of board personally, but had the pleasure of seeing this in person at keycon, its a beast of a board but manages to also look really snazzy in ones setup. May not pick one up myself but looking forward to seeing this do well!

Thanks for all the support! We're making great progress towards MOQ.
I will try to get some general wk 3x5 renders done as those are quite underrepresented, if there are any specific colour/ layout/ keycap combos you want to see visualised let me know and I will try to get some renders made ;D

MOQ has officially been hit! Thanks for all of the massive support!

To accomodate the upcoming and final buildstream by Blacksimon we've decided to extend the GB until the 30th (July 30th)! If you've been waiting for his thought on the board you will now be able to watch the stream before deciding :cool:

The build will be streamed at 11:30AM ET on July 23rd, I will try to post an update here & ping the role in the discord so that you guys don't miss it! Sorry for the short notice on the MechMerlin stream, the prototype got stuck in transit and it was difficult to predict when it would arrive. Hopefully some of you were able to catch it and enjoy it
