Title: Will constant key press (race car gaming) damage switch spring?
Post by: AmigaDisk on Mon, 16 June 2025, 00:46:15
Hi
I just got a Keychron Q3 max. Very nice, and most expensive keyboard for me so far
So I'm already a bit protective of it
I'm playing a race game a lot where I hold down one key for acceleration almost constantly
Won't this easily damage the switch spring, I mean weaken the spring tension?
It's not an issue yet and I must say I haven't had an issue with it before.. just being cautious this time

It can but it will take years.
Since you have hot swaps, you can always just replace the spring or the switch later.

Springs can go flat, seen it a few times on older used boards.

Those were probably stored with the key held/pressed down by the cord or stuffed in a box.

Spring steel absent corrosion remains pretty decent over time.  If it does die, it will die of neglect on part of the OP before it dies of metal creep.
