Title: 6gv2 keycaps problem
Post by: leotnnz on Thu, 04 November 2010, 13:23:42
hi,guys

just open the 6gv2 box at noon. find there is a white dot on every keycap's side at the same position and feels like kind of scratching spots. wondering it is normal or i received a defective one. i could not upload pics now, since isp of the college is down today, and the internet is damn slow.

btw, i heard rumor says the black switch on 6gv2 is a little bit different from cherry's black.

thanks.

Looks like there is a white dot on the top side corner?

I'm looking at my 6Gv2 and it has the same marks as well. I believe it is just an artifact from the molding process for their caps. If it really bothers you, they are the same profile as the Filco caps.

Here is a picture of some of the top row keys on my 6Gv2.

Molding marks.  Even Topres have them if you look hard enough.
My advice is to turn the keyboard around.

LoL!

To the OP-
Indeed they are just artifacts from the injection process. The vast majority of keys out there will have this, and it's usually on the back or bottom side. It shows up more on some than others, this can be in part due to the type of plastic, but  more often it's the particular deformation stress when the sprue is released or separated.

So in other words... no worries =)
