Title: [IC] Introducing the TAIKO-01
Post by: dailytadpole on Thu, 17 July 2025, 12:44:18
I wanted to share a couple images for a keyboard I'm in the process of making. I've used dactyl-like keyboards before and I've always wanted one that feels solid with high quality injection molded cases instead of the 3D printed one I had, so this is me giving it a go. I didn't show it in the pictures, but it would be hotswappable and it'd have legends and blinds on the keycaps. I've previously operated a small online store called TaikoHub where I was selling 3D printed dactyls that I designed from scratch.

Materials: Injection molded ASA plastic.
Target price: ~$300.
Wired/Wireless: The product would come wired. But may introduce a wireless module afterwards.

Progress to date:
Finished keyboard matrix PCB with Kailh Sockets
Finished PCB Shield (Protects the PCB during hotswap)
Visited manufacturer in Shenzhen

Pending Tasks:
Order prototype
Design for manufacturing to optimize for injection molding

Approval :thumb:

(Sorry for the 403 errors and issues uploading pics, will hopefully have that resolved soon so you can share photos here as well)

Not sure why but I'm still getting the 403 forbidden error when I try to attach an image. Here's pictures of the issue.

Looks beautiful! What do the innards of this keyboard look like, is it individual little PCBs for each socket then wired together?

Thanks! It's a giant circuit board. It's not small PCBs, I find those to be too fragile.
