Coniferous

You squint against the sun as it glints off the frost shimmering on the grass.
Your sleeves are damp from brushing through tangled branches, and each step crunches over a carpet of fallen leaves.
A chill breeze whispers through the forest, making you shiver. The air is thick with the earthy scent of damp moss and decay—a quiet sign that winter is near.
Soon, only the conifers will keep their green.

Background

Kia ora/Warm Greetings and welcome to the interest check of GMK Coniferous R2.5; A set that was originally released back in 2016, originally designed by Donutcats who was kind enough to let me re run this set - with some minor kitting changes for added accessibility and novelty changes; it still remains true to the originals sets aesthetic, the one difference being the accent keys now have n9 legends instead of u9 legends, this is because it not only fits better in my personal opinion but also is what all the common sets these days use to make accents off. Big thanks again to Patty (nonumbers) for his help on the rendering, and stellaidscope for the work on the novelties!

I adore this theme especially due to being a kiwi and having lived by the bush for the majority of my life (average kiwi stereotype) and hope you guys love it too <3

I am trying to keep it original to the OG set so I am going to keep the winkeys in the base, if needed you can use novs or the extensions kit to replace it! Thank you for your feedback :D

I’m thinking about potentially doing this, I just find them a bit too crowded personally, so I’m just gauging the interest in how important the extra legends are to people haha.

A bit weird with the kitting that uk iso is included in base but if you want blackout you would also need to get extension kit to get uk iso blackout but then again its not something im gonna use. Otherwise looking great

Essentially its because mono kit is going to be expensive so I'd rather keep it cheaper for majority. Whereas the OG base had that available to them so I thought it wouldn't be fair to not include it in this rerun!

Small error in the renders — some of the accent keys have N9 legends instead of beige. If I'm real with you I prefer the darker legends...

**** you're right, i didn't even notice that the original had it in the alpha colour, I agree with you that it should be in the dark legends! I'm just going to fix up some of these kittings and ill specify that in the kitting differences from r1

The Mono Alphas are what make this set this for me worth it. Full GMK N9 sets like Pono, Skiidata, & Nines are some of my favorites

Seconded. I originally got into custom keycaps just so I wouldn't have to see a Windows logo!

I like the Kiwi bird, and Fern novelties... very New Zealand coded haha.

Curious about the purpose of a second 1.5u Fn key in the extensions kit?
Wonder if 1.5u Supers in Winkey could be cut out or not... The OS-agnostic crowd probably doesn't like paying for more 1.5u keys in a legend they hate (not to mention the dark UK alpha keys that many won't take).

Just here to eat popcorn whilst watching the debate between Win key (authentic/OG look) and OS-agnostic legend preferences (more universal)

To someone like me who is new to this hobby and has missed so many great old GMK sets, this is like a dream come true. Thanks for bringing this back. I'm definitely in for this one.
