Title: DIY Dactyl: minimal footprint, but not split
Post by: whs on Tue, 25 November 2025, 16:13:29
Q. Anyone come across a Dactyl-like configuration that is both single piece and tenting? Something like the Atreus (https://atreus.technomancy.us/) / Atreoid (https://codeberg.org/mrp/atreoid_328), but with tenting.

Background: Currently have a Cyboard Dactyl Manuform (https://cyboard.digital/collections/dactyls) that I love, except I find I usually just scrunch the two halves together. Kinda defeats the purpose of having it split. Plus I've customized QMK so much it's starting to get in the way of doing what I want, so I'm ready to build something more custom in terms of software too, which means one microprocessor for the whole thing instead of one per half.

I realize I could take existing split Dactyl designs and just kinda sqwish them together in CAD, but wondering if someone's travelled down this road before and came up with a better design.
