Hello everyone, I'm hongoo, and this time I bring you a new series of keycap designs - O.K. II.
Prototype丨Restoration
This time, the prototype came from one of my favorite product design teams, Teenage engineering's synthesizer K.O.II.TE's pursuit of design details and highly recognizable style are impressive, and I believe that the keyboard and keycaps based on TE's OP-1 are already well known to everyone, and compared to the OP-1, the K.O.II. synthesizer may not be so "famous".
And this time, the name of the keycap O.K. II. also played a small word play, OK is also the abbreviation of the name of our studio, ONEKEY.

Design丨Material
This design focuses on restoring the overall feel and texture of K.O.II., extracting and expanding elements while restoring the feel.
Based on the height of the original keycaps, I wanted to express the collision of materials and restore the prototype through different processes and colors, so I chose a translucent black keycap + UV (tentative) method in the digital area to present it. The font in this part is also different from the rest, using the same way as the digital display board on this controller, which displays numbers on an old-fashioned calculator, and is embellished with colorful symbols and geometric figures.
The characters use a set of minimalist style characters made earlier, which complement the overall vision.

Tray丨Combination
According to my habit, it is impossible not to do some matching design for the keycaps. OK's magnetic screw tray is already three years old, and V3 has not been made, so it's time to update it. So with this screw tray combination, it is inspired by TE's smart audio designed for Raven Technology, which can be used directly as a tray, and can be stored into a complete form when combined. At the same time, we are also planning to design a special cover for the set, and more functions will be added to this cover plate, not to mention, it will be brought to you in the later updates.

Finally丨Simplified
Every time I do a new design, I always hope to bring something new to everyone and learn something at the same time. With this set of keycaps, I tried to learn the TE style and K.O.2 itself, so I didn't make too many KIT renders for other kits, which will be brought to you in future updates. This post is regarded as a simple IC information post, returning to the original IC essence, hoping to discuss with you how to make this design more perfect.
"This series aims to revive functional keycaps, from the director's consoles and linear editors of the past broadcasting era to various modern non-linear editing software."
I mentioned this sentence in GMK's BKRE ICs before, and this time it can be regarded as some expansion and divergence of that, but this set will not be classified in this series.
