Title: Looking for a Cherry keyboard with MX switches and double-shot molded black keys
Post by: mondalaci on Mon, 08 November 2010, 15:38:44
Hi guys,

Whoever can find me such a keyboard, I will worship his/her name forever!  :)

The closer the keyboard is to Hungary the better it is regarding shipping costs.

Thanks in advance!

Holy **** Ripster, you're the man!

Are all these keyboards supposed to cost around $200 without shipping?

Do these folks speak English by the way?

Thanks for the welcome message, I already feel at home.  :)

Yep, 50 bucks for the keyboard and 150 bucks for the doubleshots ;)

Heh, that's interesting.  Although I'm not sure how serious were you about the price breakdown but if that's the case it would maybe more economical to buy a Cherry keyboard without doubleshots and order the doubleshots from another place for a cheaper price.

If not, that's no problem.  I'm gonna get such a keyboard anyways.  :)

If you find it, do not click it as you can only pay with Far Eastern financial establishments credit cards/transfers (they do not trust the integrity of Western banks).

You need to use a Purchase Agent (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/obook88), your friendly 10%-15% dealer, there are many other Agents.

Different format G80-18xx (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=6911875989) and cheaper, also Double-Shots.

So am I supposed to contact with this guy and he acts as a proxy between the retailer and me?

Is this specific agent is trusted?  Have you tried him?

There have been good transactions, these agents rely on good feedbacks to promote their services, else they'd be out of business in no time, they also accept PayPal.

Read purchase guide (http://taobaofieldguide.com/taobao-in-english)

Well, you can get g80-3000 with laser engraved caps in Germany for around 60€
but then it doesn't have NKRO..
Maybe it's more like half the total price for those double-shots and you can't buy them anywhere in the Western World .

Sometimes you can get lucky on ebay and find a used donor-board for a few bucks plus shipping ..

Hm, this G80-3000 (http://www.stuff-uk.net/p-42601.aspx) sells only for £47.67 including VAT.  I might go for it.

One can find more resellers from the G80-3000 product page (http://www.cherry.de/english/products/keyboards_G80-3000.htm).

Cherry has so many keyboards (http://www.cherry.de/english/products/keyboards.htm).  I wonder which of them utilize MX switches.

fssbzz: Thanks but it says: "Continental 48 US States ONLY. No International shipping, no exceptions."

I could order it through Borderlinx anyways but the shipping costs would be very ugly.

I'm sure you could someone on these boards to help cross ship it. I'm thinking about that Sun workstation he has listed there. Tossing the keyboard in that would basically mean it shipped to me for free.

Does that have the double shot keys you wanted? It's something that looks interesting to me, if you aren't interested. I'll let you pass on it first, though.

theferenc: I'm not obsessed about double-shots.  I'd take Manyak's G80 if the price is right (after shipping and customs).

But I have to find someone first.  Sounds like too much hassle to me, almost worse than ordering from China...

fssbzz: Manyak made it clear that he only ships to the US.  I'm from Hungary, I've just edited it in my profile.  The destination is also Hungary.
