Title: FILCO browns... spacebar and other keys?
Post by: FoxSpirit on Fri, 12 November 2010, 08:08:44
Well, I recently noticed how some keyboards don't have completely even switches but some odd ones mixed in , e.g. a different switch for the spacebar.

So how's that with brown FILCOS? Currently typing on an all blue and having any other switch on here would feel odd.

Assuming the normal switches are reasonably light to begin with, a somewhat heavier spacebar switch isn't much of an issue. It does become slightly annoying if we start out in the mid-heavy / heavy territory (clears / blacks). And why Cherry chose to stick the spacebar switch for clears on their boards with browns is beyond me - just about anyone is complaining about that on MX11800s and such.

Cherry is the only company that different space bar switches.

MX grays are MX browns with a heavier spring. Like MX clears, but with a slightly different force curve.

MX greens are MX blues with a heavier spring. Someone did a mod with "ghetto MX greens", and described it as "crunchy".
