Title: New Convert-Just pulled Trigger on Endurapro
Post by: fan_of_dilbert on Wed, 17 November 2010, 10:27:10
My search for an ergo type keyboard led me to mechanical kb ahaa & then this site.... what a freakin cool site loaded with info.

A lot of back and forth then geek vodoo occurred...clicked on pic of EnduraPro... Saw the red joystick in the middle of the KB... ohhhh.... sweet.... looks like my beloved ThinkPad...pulled the trigger the next day.

Maybe a Filco later but haven't had this much excitement waiting for a product to arrive since my first ThinkPad purchase.

Thanks geekhack community!!

it's a slippery slope... hunt down an old IBM Model M13 -- all-black mechanical keyboard with your beloved red nub in the middle!

I paid $60 for mine - Mint but not original box.  Pics in sig.

But that was last year.

Paid $45 for mine just a couple months ago. White version; so not as "good" looking, but no shiny keys. Only defect is the messed up numpad enter. It was pretty clean too.

?? where did you see that price? I got mine via ebay for about $50 a few years back. Almost mint condition. But since discovering topre and cherry brown keyboards it's been gathering dust

In spirit of approaching holidays... "On the first day of Christmas my blah blah... said to me... put that F..ing laptop away ... you're supposed to be on vacation"

Anyone reelate??

One on ebay now $120 or best offer (seller refurbished).
Another one on bluejay.com (used) $85

One sharp looking board & if the joy stick operates more like a TP even more temping as a home board (Unicomp guy said their's didn't have the spring tech like TP).

how are the trackpoints on the endurapro? just as good as the m13 or better?

btw the trackpoint on the m13 is not as good as the ones on the thinkpads

This is my first mech kb purchase & it just arrived an hour ago so I can't compare to the M13.

It doesn't have the same type mechanism as TP (I have a T500) ... it's firm but lacks the spring type feel Trackpoint has, which is understandable as Unicomp guy told me basically the same.

I'm not having any trouble using it in UltraEdit (text editor) but miss the UltraNav type stuff being able to scroll up/down in a file with the stick.

Nice.  I want to order one as well.  Which one do you prefer?  I much prefer the thinkpad over the trackpoint on the m13.  It's not bad but thinkpad trackpoints are much more superior imho.  And the m13 seemed a bit stiff but the worst part were how hard the buttons were to push.

My motto is it's worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay.

Unless of course "shill bidding" is involved... ;)
