fssbzz, u can get blank key caps when u come back to Singapore. It's about SGD$55
I emailed Majestouch a few weeks ago before I ordered my (sadly not otaku) tenkeyless brown, and he said he's had an order in for blank key caps for awhile, but the factory's been putting special items like that on hold in order to meet growing demand for full keyboards. So you can blame the StarCraft nerds not only for the browns always being out of stock, but also for there being no blank key caps available.
i got this link from Bakageta,
retail online store from taiwan.
they ship international.
still figuring how to do the payment and check out.
total around $48 USD after shipped.

google chrome = best friend when ordering from sites in a different language.
I then use http://translate.google.com/ for the confirmation emails (if they are in a different language as well)
ya they will.
Then I am off to buy some, going to use the filco at work and prefer no one touching my keyboard.
lol so if you use blank key caps, they wont touch your keyboard?
Or they may just snatch it...
Everyone at work uses these..even the programmers.Show Image(http://www.pctipstricks.com/pictures/Dell-SK-8115-Electromechanical-desktop-keyboard-front.jpg)
Hey, Blame Fwiffo for claiming the keyboard Fruitdealer used was a Majestouch instead of a Zero.
I use this @ work too :(
For Autocad, it's more mouse than keyboard so I currently use a Xai for work.
Hopefully I enough spare dough to buy a mechanical keyboard for work.
Actually, Ripster thinks he may have been wrong about it being a Zero (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:12841&do=comments&p=2487%2094#post248794), and that my original assessment may have been correct.

Just ordered them blank caps..
Officially done shopping till the new year <_<
erm.
so it will be delivered by next year? :O
Naw Imma just take it easy till the new year. My wallet wants to divorce me lol.
Hey looking at your review on the RK-9000 I couldn't help but wonder where you got that cap puller.
i just read that the blank keycaps you buy dont have some special coating on them like the ones that come with the boards do
Whats that mean exactly?
I think that means they don't have the layer applied to the ones stock on the boards that covers the printed legends. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Filco puts an extra layer on the key to make the whole top face matte instead of coating just the legend letter/symbol, for prettiness and evenness I assume.

Anythings better then my lycosa's rubber wear ;x
My life has been changed.
Well, not really. But this whole thing over the browns is a bit much. More so when people that don't touch type want them. Or people thinking their APM will be better as a result; I find it all hilarious.
Well, I originally posted it as a joke, so I hope it's hilarious. I was just watching the GSL, and thought I saw a red Esc key, and then there was a close-up, and I'm like "holy crap, he's got my keyboard!" I didn't expect to change the world.
i am surprised so many people were willing to drop that kind of money on a keyboard that doesnt look flashy though.
well in sc2 nerds' defense, id argue that the keyboard is more important than your mouse, unless youre a noob and dont use hotkeys or have ultra low sensitivity
im glad that people are getting into the market of better keyboards because of fruitdealer and other koreans who were seen with filcos, should create more competition like the new zowie. i am surprised so many people were willing to drop that kind of money on a keyboard that doesnt look flashy though.
Yeah, Starcraft 2 was also the reason I looked into mech keyboards.
And honestly, playing with the Cherry Blues is so much nicer than on rubber domes. Makes you feel so much more speedy which helps a lot. Such a light and quick action. A bit noisy but for my German brown Tenkeyless I will have to wait some more. My wallet also thanks me for that.
So yeah, if you play SC2 regularly, it's worth it for that alone. Plus typing on that thing is awesome you you win twice.
You don't back off that much, do you. :)
Between SC2 nerds, and razer getting into mechanicals (which is how i found out about them) and those people spreading word of mouth, the demand for mechanical keyboards has gone through the roof in the united states and europe.
until some American parent company buys all the smaller guys and runs a monopoly unchallenged by the US government
Of course you need flocks of gamers (http://gunningforthetruth.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/sheep.jpg) to open their wallets, not the rusty old beards who have stashed enough Ms anyway.
I'm sure we all know some guy who likes golfing but he sucks at it. But clearly its not him who sucks its his clubs. So he goes out and buys a $8000 set of clubs expecting it to make him good.
There is a large subset of gamers who are the same way.
I think the peoples interest in mechanical keyboards breaks down into this:
Gamers looking for an edge
Coders looking for comfort
Typists looking for less strain and wpm
Elitists looking for self esteem
Nerds looking for luxury
Ancient nerds looking for the good old days

I got as far as the order details page on Armygroup, at which point Google Translate completely craps out. It doesn't like those dynamic forms very much.
Maybe I'll try again later when I'm feeling more patient :)
If you're using firefox, you can highlight the dropdown, view selected source, and copy/paste that into a separate google translate window. You'll need to set the first dropdown before it'll change the second one, but it's all pretty straightforward.
Weird. When I go to create a new address in the armygroup system, I don't get space for a zip code, just an address. I put my whole address in that.
But when I go to checkout, it has a zipcode field that's blank and uneditable. Anybody else seen this / got around it ?
*looks at profile pic*
Okay, so I get a new monitor in pretty regular intervals too. Damn you OLED, you take way too long to arrive to finish this once and for all >.<
Just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I was thinking ClickClack Keys if he doesn't ship soon.
what technology is set to outphase oled already?
Also, LCDs are NOT higher quality than CRTs, they simply have different strenghts.
eink displays are awesome but seriously, the current "refresh rates" are... yeah. I mean, awesome for reading texts but watch those page flips. And 5-bit per channel? So much banding. >.<
http://www.oled-info.com/
Follow it all there. Oled IS coming.
I guess you know about modern IPS types, including the recent 10-bit ones. Except for some specific niche tasks, can you cite reasons to prefer CRT? I know why I don't.
Yep, I stated that progress in refresh rate is necessary. And yes, 5-bits per channel is okay-ish. I use laptops in 16-bit mode to conserve battery, no problemo. How much a non-photo oriented desktop really needs?
IPS is nice, but contrast is around 1:12-1:1500 for the good ones and they are still slower than TNs. Both things where a CRT is superior.
And 10-bit? I'm certain you mean displays with 10-bit LUTs, they have been around in the professional market for quite some time. And are sooo badly expensive. I don't get it why it's reserved to upper-class displays, the tech must be inexpensive and without it any tweaking of monitor contrast and gamma curves results in banding >.<
Are you sure 16-bit mode conserves battery? Didn't use it in ages ;-)
Yes, 10-bit panel. LUTs are 14-bit. Like this:
PA271W-BK-SV (http://www.necdisplay.com/Products/Product/?product=186bb118-0c70-4c6a-a511-6d39c54f61bd)
16-bit mode conserves battery because of half the memory accesses on each refresh. Benefit depends on what power the other components draw.
damm filco, canceled and refund my payment for the "out of stock" blank key cap.
I guess i have to go for ArmyGroup.
Not sure if armygroup has any in stock either. I placed my order on the 19th and still no shipping information.
same, i placed my order 2 days ago, i get no feedback from the side at all yet.
That's odd. I placed an armygroup order on the 20th and got a shipping notification and tracking number this morning.
You guys paid via paypal right? I ordered Friday and my order shipped today. Just wait another day or two, they are probably busy.
It looks to me like the blank keys on my Das Keyboard match the ones on the Filco Majestouch keyboard I have, so if all else fails, you can get a blank Das and swap the keys out :)
All aboard the off topic train.
I have the HP ZR30w and I use it for gaming. It's comparable to the fastest TN panels and has no input lag. Disadvantages are obviously it costs more than a huge TV, and for competitive gaming there is no way you would want a 30" monitor.
Congrats! Looks like the blank key set was about $23 US too.
How much was shipping?
And thanks for the link. I added to the Taiwan section of the "Mechanical Keyboards Sorted By Switch" buying wiki.
Chunks do you read Chinese, or is your chrome translator just better than mine. I got to the point where I made an account, or at least I think I made an account...and now I'm kinda stuck :P

i don't think filco carry any other blank color key cap.
if you want to find one, you may need to find KBC Blank color PBT keycap from taobao.
I am a total noob when it comes to keyboards/keycaps, so direct links would be incredibly helpful and very much appreciated.
Also, I just placed an order from armyrgoup to get a blank black set; do any of ya'll have some real delivery time frames? I'm in Virginia, US.
