This: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=filco_keyboards,majestouch_87key&pid=fkbn87mnpek
elitekeyboards is massively sold out because of fruit dealer. I think they're restocking lettered models, but I must have blank keys! My question to you all is:
1. Has anyone gotten a response from elitekeyboards as to whether or not they're restocking otakus?
2. Any luck finding this keyboard elsewhere?

You could buy a tenkeyless from pchome and buy a blank key set from armygroup. That would run you more than a otaku though.

I want to buy the same thing.
I was told in the filco brown out of stock thread that they can only order them certain times of the year. And that the next order date was coming in early 2011.

Hmm, the only blank keys I can see on Keyboardco are 105 key (ISO) keysets. They're sold out of all otaku boards aren't they?

I tried it basically on my lycosa. I just turned the backlight off and the hardest ones for me are typing in numbers. I automatically look down but theres nothing there anyway unless i look very close. I really love the otaku look though. Especially on a HHKB but i cant afford that, and I dont want to have to relearn a new keyset.
As far as ordering a lettered and buying blank keycaps. That has 2 downsides.
1. No F and J bumps to help you find home row.
2. No coating so the keys get polished plasic look fast instead of the flat matte black.
I want an otaku tenkeyless with red wsad and esc.
Media keys ill program myself with autohotkey...though id love a set of black on black ducky keycaps to use for media keys and number row. But i cant find anywhere to buy just the keycaps.
I went from wanting a Razer Black Widow Ultimate
to a Deck Legend Frost
to a Happy Hacking Keyboard
to a Xarmor with browns
to a Ficlo otaku tenkeyless brown.
I realized i never use the numpad that much and id actually rather have the numpad on the left side using filco's brown numpad and program it with auto hotkey for whatever game im currently playing.
Though i was really interested in this keyboard that had a detatchable numpad from the right hand side and would attach to the left hand side and had a small gaming macro cluster that attached above the F keys angled towards you, but i cant find it anymore and it wasnt available yet.
Edit: Found it (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=12105) - but i dont see if its available in browns
The choc Mini looks nice too but again i think id rather stick to a standard format.

The Filco set of blanks has bumps on F and J, it'd be EXTREMELY hard to use if it didn't. Zoom in on the pics, you can see them. As for the coating, some people manage to wear through it incredibly fast, significantly faster than you'd smooth out uncoated keys. I managed to pick up an actual "otaku" board, but I just recently got it, so I can't say one way or another how I feel about the coating.

Hmm okay thanks for letting me know. Maybe ill end up ordering a lettered version with blank keycaps so i can have options. Assuming of course elite keyboards can keep them in stock for more then 10 seconds so i can order one.
Looking at the Dearmo again, it looks a little too...ugly/bulky. I wish i knew if you could get it in browns and if the wrist rests detatch.
I almost want to get something out of the ordinary to have an interesting review for geekhack. Not like we need ANOTHER tenkeyless filco brown review =P

Haha, did the same with my Lycosa while trying to learn Dvorak. It's even harder to see with the "Mirror Edition".
Isn't it funny how that works? I can never decide what keyboard I actually want next. I was set on something with blue cherries. Ended up with white alps.

I'm doing the same with mine while I wait for my 104 key Otaku to arrive. Can't see anything in the dark, and it's surprisingly easy to type without being able to see the keys.
As for actually finding Otaku's I have no idea where, I bought mine used off the classifieds here.
