I've seen a bunch of these NIB Griffin PowerMate USB knobs go for $50-$60 after shipping, these are $35 shipped BIN, and are the 2010 version of the knob (I think just the packaging has changed over time).
The reason I think this is relevant to GH is because the PowerMate can provide a media key alternative. I'm sorely missing my volume controls since moving to a Filco Brown, so this is the way I'm filling that hole.
The PowerMate is discontinued, but recently had a full driver rewrite for OS X. The same can't be said for Windows, those drivers are a couple years old. Not sure how well this works in Win 7.

Thanks. one bought now. Wait till I tell the wife what shes' getting me for Christmas.

Otherwise I do like analog input better than using my hotkey combos (WIN+F1-F6).
Yeah, I've been looking for an excuse to buy one of these for a long time, i just like big analog dials. A/V receivers have gone to complete **** since they got all buttony.

Bloody typical - US only shipping - poor Aussies missing out again. At least we get the Filco metallic Blue before the US.

Powermate allow for more granularity in ny Vista OS volume control. Worth $35? Not yet.
Someone made an audio spectrum analyzer once with motorized frequency pots on the equalizer panel. YOu'd walk around the room with the mic and watch the motors run to keep the frequency response flat.

It's definitely cool, but I couldn't justify spending $35 on a knob. Even a cool knob. The biggest problem isn't even the $35. It's the fact that I'd probably want one for home and one for work, and then the $35 would turn into $70.

You stole my line. Damn, I have to sell yet another something else now.
PS. Ships fast and arrives intact.
