"Purely mechanical", [strike]Cherry Brown[/strike] Cherry Black keyswitches (although they seem unusually quiet)
1000Hz USB polling rate ("response time is really quick", "first keyboard of its kind")
Multimedia functions
Fat Backspace/Backslash keys (oh yeah)
USB hub (1C/2P) and Mic/Headphone audio connectors (pass-through)
Fat "military grade" sheathed cable (USB with PS/2 adapter)
"Coming out for Thanksgiving/Christmas"
"Gaming optimized"

How is that suppose to keep my processor cool?
-
Um, it doesn't need extra power for backlighting?
-
the keyboard is actually a heat sink in disguise? there's a miniature bellows under every key? ;)
i like this mechanical keyboard trend in gaming; it might result in cheaper high quality boards for all :)
-
I prefer "lower cost" to "cheaper". We've got plenty of cheap keyboards already.
-
yes; i beg your pardon XD

I see thermaltake hired ex razer employees to do their marketing...

More like Razer rejects. This guy is worse.

That's quite interesting. We'll see how much it retails for. If it's under 100 it's got the 6Gv2 beat.

129.99 msrp.

I doubt that "Gaming optimized" means it's NKRO though. Probably just the same crap as the BW. Filco and forget about it. :hand:

Ah, didn't know about that other thread, Rip. There's no stopping this thread now, though ... I can't see a padlock anywhere.
(McDonald's sure looks a lot sexier in Japan.)

I said RETAILS. As in street price. No one pays MSRP for anything ever. Except Apple products.

I doubt that "Gaming optimized" means it's NKRO though.
It likely means the WASD cluster has "anti-ghosting" priority. Normal USB/HID isn't gonna accept more than 6 simultaneous keystrokes in any case, this thing probably has 2KRO (maybe even 4KRO); Tt (or Chicony, or whoever actually ODMs these keyboards) will probably use exactly the same matrix layout and cheap**** MCU that they use in other Tt keyboards.

Now that's a keyboard cable.
Hopefully it is high-quality or respectable quality, wish more brands used the custom headphone cable look, something with more to it, metallic braided and whatnot; parabellum cable but with style.
-
It's just a braided sleeve covering the bundle of keyboard, USB, Mic, and Audio cables. Plus a nice little strain-relief fixture sticking out of the keyboard plastics. The sort of thing anyone can DIY for about $3.

But it's MILITARY GRADE.

Interesting trend in attempt to bring flashy mechanical switch keyboards into the always funny gaming market . As if it will made any change 99.99% of the time.
I'd like to extrapolate further and expect more and quality mecha boards for general auditory (and the keyboard's intended purpose), but that connection seems weak IMHO.

But it's MILITARY GRADE.
Oh.
Then you can DIY for about $303.

I agree with msiegel and Woody ... mechanicals entering the "mainstream" gamers market are a good sign. Gamers be weird, yeah, but have tons o' money to spend on the "best" tech gear they can get. I blame the fruit vendor (along with all of crazy Korea) for this trend.
