Title: is there a list of decent compact keyboards? Smaller than filco tenkeyless?
Post by: AvengeR on Mon, 29 November 2010, 15:16:36
I don't want to spend $300 on a kb so a hhkb2 is not an option, and also read here it's not perfect but it'd be with realforce key feeling and build quality.

now I'm using a roccat arvo (I know, but I got it extremely cheap and it's rather small: 39,4x14cm, or 15.5x5.5 inches) but I think I would be even more comfortable with a smaller keyboard. Also I really dislike scissor switches so this keyboard does the work just fine because it feels better than regular rubber dome.
Of course "gaming optimized" key roll over is quite nice but not really necessary, as long it performs ok under ps/2 or usb. Also I don't care about fancy drivers, macros, etc.

i could potentially buy a filco but first those are expensive and second I want a smaller keyboard than that to really feel the difference in size. Filcos are 35.6x13.5cm, or 14x5.3 inches

The only other thing I'd really love to have is otaku/blank keys, but maybe I'm asking too much.

Thanks a lot

As far as I know, the list is:

1) HHKB Pro 2
2) HHKB Lite
3) GHSS
4) Siig Minitouch (upon which the GHSS is based)

I randomly saw a Ducky that was more compact than the Filcos, but I can't remember the number, and I can't find it anymore on PCHome. Add to that the difficulty of snagging a Ducky...you see my point.

Consider my signature.

The main keyboard not listed is the Noopoo choco mini, avail for preorder in china.  The other alternative is the deck/tg3 82 key, which has cherry blacks..

You can take it and remap it to HHKB leetness in no time.

What app do you use to remap the keys?
Keep hitting the FN key on my ghss for ctrl..figure I set it that way since I hardly use FN.

Update:
Anyone have experience with sharpkey?

Somebody needs to explain to me the cultural significance of  the Chinese Characters in Noooooooooo Pooooooo sometime.

There's this for $18 at DealExtreme. (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44378)  If somebody doesn't buy it soon I might have to actually break down and be the guinea pig.

I'm a bit curious now as well.

You should buy it.

That's sweet. If they were still in production, I'd be getting some.
