Being they only seem to be made for rows 5 or 6, I don't see that anyone would be getting them for their whole keyboard.  Seems they're targeted at users who want to just change the ESC or another single key, so the pricing does seem to make a lot of sense.

What's wrong with my calendar?  Looks to be December 2nd to me.  Though depending on where you live, some places are still Dec. 1.

Well, let's see, I get two.  My brothers, sisters, mother, father, aunt, second-cousin, dog, cat, goldfish, etc. each get two.  Getting a full keyboard ought to be easy if they at least fit all the rows.

Ordered two tri-color for Topre (for my two HHKB Pro keyboards).  I actually have ZERO Cherry MX 'boards right now (well, the wife and daughter both have pink filcos...but those don't count as I don't use them).  ;)

Ordered two tri-colour caps, One Topre and one Cherry MX. I'm a little disppointed that the single colour cap isn't available for a Topre switch as yellow could've looked good on my 91UBY.

Hm the shipping for a single key isn't too bad considering overseas. But I can't decide which color I want


edit: If I buy two 12$ keys I'm 8 cents over the duty free allowance of 22 Euro including shipment and todays euro exchange rate.

Agreed. I would also prefer lettered keycaps in different colors. I'll probably get some of the blank red ones though.

Those WASD keys are sweet.

I'm still wishing the gaming world didn't evolve to the WASD key cluster... I started out on Doom and Quake using ESDF and have stuck with it for nearly 2 decades, because its simply better than WASD.  By moving over 1 key, you get access to alot more keys (3 with your pinky plus closer access to 6-0 for weapon switching), especially helpful in modern games with tons of control/macro options.   I guess the only thing better about WASD is its more aesthetically appealing to spell out lol.

/sigh/  At least I can dream of someday owning some badass ESDF keys like these WASD ones lol.

Doing it myself isn't cheap either, considering how often I would have to redo due to some major failing on my part.

I like how Elitekeyboard has the blank lavender keys for Topres, but doesn't have the same for Filco. I claim bias! keyboard-ism!

Last time I checked it was the RED WASD and the purple WASD. Even though their website shows in stock...when you add it to your cart and attempt to pay, it shows it's OOS.

I think same too LOL but Anyways that Skull tricolor would look awesome on they Keyboard with the black roof and will match the realforce logo at top of the Esc Key.

I might get one of those and 1-2 Blank red keys.

But I'm in Europe and don't want to spend more on shipping that in the Keys themselves LOL. Maybe they can ship with something like sixty received his keychain:

Random off topic question...does anyone know what kind of ecommerce solution elitekeyboards uses? I've been looking at learning how to code a wordpress site/theme with the purpose of making a small ecommerce site for non-keyboard products. I took a peek at the source code, from my limited knowledge it doesn't appear to be a Wordpress site. Overall it seems to be a nice ecommerce solution, whatever platform they use.

I have no idea...you could email support@elitekeyboards.com and ask. The easiest way to do simple e-commerce is using Paypal buying links. Like the way didjamatic does it on his site (http://5k177.com/more/). (Which is wordpress-powered). In fact, I think looking at his site will be more helpful for your purposes.

Don't hold your breath for price drops. They're hand made custom items. They'll always carry a premium.

Even the Koreans on OTD agreed that they are expensive! I guess they are too spoiled by the $7 metal keys from scarface.
Disregarding that, seems most people still ordered anyway. So its all good.

Custom stuff has its price. I expected these to be in the $10 range too.

I think the price is indeed fair, and I dont know why anyone at this stage would want a full keyboard of these things.  I for one wouldnt want to type on skulls =p

I would however like to see some bulk order options in the future for some of the keys that can actually replace the letter keys.  I dont know the logistics of it all, click clack could tell us the logistics of doing mass batches or commissioning a plastic mold company to do them.

But i view these keys as accent keys, so the price isn't bad considering he has to hand make each one.  Full key replacements would HAVE TO be done through mass production to make it affordable enough.

Much more involved, infact it takes 5x longer to make the tri-color ones than the solid color skulls as well as having a lower success rate in production.

Indeed (and I have failed on lots of tests), and you have to consider this-
1) equipment costs (100% designed and fabricated by me)
2) tooling costs
3) molds
4) maintenance/repairs
5) R&D
6) prototypes
7) tests
8) time! eeeek!
9) materials
10) fair gnome wages

Of course one could do anything they want with them, but yes these ones in particular are intended for the top two rows as either accents (like esc) or helper keys (ok, and they also look awesome). An example of the helper key is similar to the nubs on F and J.
I can touch type but I don't always have a good grasp of the top number or function row. However with some cleverly place skulls I am always able to locate them when typing and know where I am in relation to other keys (especially if you don't use them often).
The skull texture, aside from protruding is slightly smooth/rounded so it doesn't grate on your finger.
WASD keys are also in the works.  =)

I am currently working on slight process changes and calculating previous equipment costs as well as seeing how this first run goes. There is a lot to consider but after this first run I should have a much better idea as to how production runs may go in the future.
