Title: How do I replace a non-clicky switch on my RK-9000?
Post by: qda on Wed, 15 December 2010, 16:13:55
I just got a Rosewill RK-9000 (cherry blue) in the mail from newegg, and it's GREAT, except for one key (up arrow) which doesn't click like the other ones. It's got a very faint click, which is almost not noticeable and basically feels like a rubber dome key.

Would I have to de-solder the switch, and solder a replacement onto the PCB?

Is there anything I could try before replacing it, to try and get the click on the switch to work properly? (I took off the cap, it looks fine/clean).

rma it. To disassemble the switch you would need to desolder the  whole board.

CH123 and others have successfully just squirted some pressurized air in there.

My DataVac would blow that switch into Orgasmic Clickiness faster than you  could say Linda Lovelace.

Didn't help .. I wish it were that simple :(

I called newegg, and they'll do an advance RMA for me - very nice! So far, newegg has been a pleasant experience.

Stupid gummy switch ........
