I definitely did not give cherry browns a proper chance. They are actually very pleasant. :)

You'll need a keyboard shelf soon

(Somewhat outdated as it's missing a bunch of keyboards and another Wheelwriter now)

spend a few hundred hours modding a keyboard and i bet you that will be your most favorite keyboard ever and you won't have an issue! (unless of course you then mod another keyboard, oh noes!)

Except that yours doesn't have a terminal keyboard with a SPOS next to it:

I'll admit that I've never tried any other Cherry switch than their MY Linears. Cymotion SPOS boards don't count imho.

I smell a Slimblade club here. :)

@WhiteRice: Nice Filcos. You have spot for at least one more.

@HaaTa: Don't you get eye strain from the 90-degree turned monitor?

How does having a monitor in portrait mode cause eyestrain?

He just flipped around to maximize coding and or reading. A lot of people seem to be doing something like that with mixed-groups in eyefinity single landscape/2 portrait on each side.

^^ I have one of my monitors in portrait for reading. Works really well. It's not right in front of me so it's no good for coding though.

Eyefinity only works with all the monitors being at the same resolution and that requires all of them being in either portrait or landscape. Extended desktop works just fine with Portrait - Landscape - Portrait tho. I tried having all my 3 monitors in portrait, but it didn't feel comfortable to look at the upper side of the screen that way so I'm simply using them all in landscape now.

Because of the rotated LCD and the way the refresh goes. I get eyestrain from rotated displays, but then again I could be hyper sensitive. Damn crappy CRTs damaged my eyes when I was child.

Interesting. I've never noticed the refresh on any LCD that I can recall, but I was very aware of it on CRT monitors. One of the first things I'd do upon using another computer would be to up the refresh rate as much as possible within Windows.

Likewise, having LCDs rotated has never caused any issues.

Must be one of those things, like hearing the sound a larger CRT tube can make (people hearing the TV is on, and not the speakers)

Yes, it's about sensitivity, and I am hyper sensitive to displays. :( My monitor has portrait mode and I was excited at first, until actually tried it. I blame the poor CRTs of my childhood, when I started having the first problems and my eyes were kind of damaged. Driving at night is harder for me.

Was just wondering is anyone is bothered by rotated LCDs. Seems no one is - good for you.

I was hypersensitive to CRTs back when I used them (Watching TV used to give me a headache, even on decent CRTs). And an unfortunate consequence my eyes became more crap. But, I changed some lifestyle things like eating enough food, getting enough sleep, resting my eyes (making sure they get enough oxygen; important if you wear contacts), etc. So things aren't so bad anymore.

As for the Landscape view LCD; hasn't given me any problems so far. I have it positioned just right, so viewing angles aren't really an issue.

You shouldn't see any difference with the image of an LCD when it's turned to portrait. LCD's refresh the whole screen at the same time unlike CRT's.

Is it out? :p

No, I don't play GT5. I use to play other GT games quite a bit, and EPR. I've been on GTPlanet for ages, but what I've played of GT5 at friends' has just made me lose virtually all interest in the game. Would rather just play StarCraft 2 and drive my real cars.

And I'm too busy buying and using keyboards to get my racing wheel back out. Yup.

btw investing in an PS/2 extension cord, best move ever. Makes quick swapping supereasy. No need to worry about bending pins because I just plug into the USB adapter directly.

I'm using a USB -> PS/2 -> Ethernet -> Frame Relay doohicky.

Yeah, I have USB and PS/2 extensions behind my monitors. Just found life was easier with them years ago due to various keyboards having different length cables. Same with mice.

Aside from my Model M, which has the extra super long cable that is just zip-tied up behind those monitors.

I think the R is for Relaxed. Or Reclined. Or Rare.

i use a 15 (something like that)ft usb extension for my kinect since it's hooked up to my project (xbox behind me) and it barely makes it.
20ft usb extention and the kinect doesn't register.
think i need a signal booster or something? maybe just better cables.

Tried with two totally different displays, was bad for me. I do understand I am an exception, unluckily for me.

No, they still refresh by lines from top to bottom.
