cuz DigiKey seems to be offering them up for sale...
Link. (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=MX1A-L)
There are three caveats though:
- 1000 piece MOQ. (Say 8 full size boards and 2 10keyless?)
- The version they list is the one with alighment pegs (though I figure one could always just cut them off if necessary).
- Ship date would be sometime in March 2011...
Other than that might actually be possible to pull off a Cherry red conversion.
-
So $65 per 104-key board....would be interesting to see if enough people would be interested.
Personally, I'm just going to replace the springs in my Black switches with the spring groupbuy.

Very interesting. This must be part of their reorganization for 2011, the delivery time already matches the expected 6 months. I'm surprised to see them making (and especially selling!) reds again, even if only in big quantities.
-
If I had time for more DIY projects I'd be all over this.
Someone give me a Non-NKRO, Red-switched G80-3000 or G80-1800 with lasered keys for under $100 shipped. I would buy several of them. That's how much I love my ghetto reds. They are not just a "gaming" switch IMHO. Their lightness makes them perfect for fast, fast, low-resistance typing with minimum hand fatigue.
Maybe I'll just wait for another opportunity to buy an all-30g realforce. Oh well.

wait, there's an all 30g realforce tenkeyless?

1000 is the minimum order from Cherry's resellers, at least here. Link says Non-stock, this must be the reason.

Yes, in Japan only. All-30g. does sound tasty, though.
-
hmm i wonder if i can contact eunjea for a batch of these reds....
-
I was interested in ordering some, but no way I could use 1000 pieces. If it was 250 like their other non-stock Cherries, I'd consider it.
Also there's the question of whether it's possible to ask Digikey for the pegless version...
-
pegless is not a problem, i just clipped the pegs with a nail clipper, heh heh heh

Hmmm....
Damn Cherry Corp representatives can't get their facts straight.
Then it wouldn't be Cherry Corp, ね?
