Title: Which keyboard should I try next*?
Post by: sam113101 on Tue, 21 December 2010, 20:19:25
I already own a unicomp spacesaver and a das with blue cherries. I must say that I THINK, it's really hard to say, that I prefer the buckling spring over the blue cherry. The sound that the das makes annoys me, and I can't say if it's the click or the bottoming out, or both. I can say though, that it's too loud when I'm pressing the space bar (it's always the loudest key).

If I type slowly it's okay, but when I begin to type faster my ears hurt. It almost retain me from typing faster. I want a non-clicky keyboard, also one that has a quiet bottoming out. Thing is, I don't want to go cherry brown and hate it as much as I hate cherry blue. Maybe PCB mounted board with browns would do (they're quieter, aren't they*?). Maybe I should go topre, though I don't want it to feel the same as rubber dome. I like some rubber domes, but they aren't enough snapy, bumpy, there is not enough bump, you know. Also they feel mushy.

So, what board should I buy next*? I'm sound-sensitive, that sucks.

+1 for the scissors.

I used my i-rocks RF-6520 at work for a few weeks before I got my model m and that board was pure quiet even when bottoming out.

I didn't know there was a silent version.

I thought that was some video editing.

Yeah, I like the sound of topre. It's more of a toc than a tack, you know.
Could I hear PCB mounted brown cherries, please*?
And why is the tenkeyless version of the realforce more expensive than the version with the numpad*? It doesn't make sense, the more plastic it has, the more expensive it should cost, no*?

I'd head over to the audio clips section if you haven't.

The whole tenkeyless price increase doesn't make sense to me either. I just blame the SC2 players.

In the end, I'm going to buy both (realforce and filco), sure of this.
Why did EK stop to sell filco keyboards*? I don't like leopold's round edges and right-into-key LEDs.
I remap backspace to caps lock and caps lock to backspace, that's going to be weird.

just out of curiosity sam, how come each question mark in your posts has an asterisk before it*?

*as if there were some "fine print" that goes with the question

In french you have to put a non-breaking space before every ?, though in english it is not needed. I don't want to lose my habits, so I keep doing it even if I write in english (I write in french most of the time). Geekhack seems to be printing non-breaking spaces as *.

That's not the only place where you have to put non-breaking spaces.

I suggest you to translate it rather than click english at left (otherwise you won't read anything specific to french).
I'm kind of picky, non-breaking spaces are optional but I use them anyway, just for the fun of doing it right.
