Title: Opening my Northgate Omnikey
Post by: jimmy919 on Thu, 23 December 2010, 22:44:58
Hi folks,

I got a hold of an Omnikey 101 and am trying to open it up to get a look at the internals.  Aside from the tabs on the sides (marked in red) and the screw in the middle (marked in green), is there anything else I need to remove?  I've been taking a screwdriver to the tabs and prying on the casing, but it's not budging.

Thanks!

prolly held together by like 3 main tabs at the front, slide a flat head under there carefully and wiggle about with pressure, something should pop open. Never opened an omnigate but thats how some things are made and the absm1 was the same way too.

Yeah, I saw those tabs and wasn't quite sure how to deal with them.

Thanks for the find, I'll ping erricrice and see if I can get some advice.  Hopefully, I don't have to tear off my sticker! :)  There's definitely an indentation under it, but it's square and doesn't feel like a well for a screw.

My Omnikey 102 opened up easy as pie. Interesting...

Figured it out.  Between the two tabs, there's a plastic lip on the back that prevents you from separating the two parts of the case.  All you have to do is give it a light shove forwards and it'll open up.

And for the record, there's nothing underneath the label.
