since i'm traveling, typing on this netbook, i brought two computers with me, the regular 17in dell and a netbook. man these netbook keys are cramped, the 17in delll is tolerable and i use it a bit, but right now fiancee is stealing that from me to browse while i gotta use the netbook.

Yep, that's why I went for ultraportable 12" "real" laptop. Not going any smaller from there, lighter sure...

The keyboard on my 11.6" MacBook Air is quite tolerable. That's as close to a tiny netbook they I will use these days. (well, I do use my iPod Touch)

I just carry a g84 with my netbook.

I'm ok with the keys on my T61 for surfing and stuff, but if I want to get any work done I usually have to plug a regular keyboard into it. :P
-
I think the T61's keyboard is excellent. In fact, there are a number of mechanical keyboards that I would find inferior to it.

I totally agree, both T60 and T61 keyboards are awesome. Nice high keys (as far as laptops are concerned).
If people complain about their laptop's keyboard, well, get a laptop with a decent keyboard! Either that or bring an external one.
I'm really interested in the ultranavs... nice and small... would be good for a thinkcentre.

It is pretty darn good as far as laptop keyboards go, but I still type far less accurately on it than I'd like. :3 It's like I can't pick out the edges of the keys by feel as well as I'd like.

Yep, first thing I noticed on this $18 HHKB killer DXtreme Scissor Switch I'm typing on right now- more typos not being able to determine edges of the keys.
Then start using that industrial mini.
That'll be $5 for helping you solve your problem.

So, is it a HHKB killer?

Lost the race due to lack of DIP switches.

I actually like flat laptop keys a lot. When I type on a laptop, my fingers tend to slide across the keys rather than jumping and landing, so significant cupping/edge distinction would actually get in the way (along with chiclets to a lesser extent). I type differently on desktop keyboards and I actually like the deep cupping on my Dell SK-8125.

Hey it actually uses Helvetica instead of Arial like in the pictures. Rock.
