Newegg's got the Kensington Trackball Orbit Optical on sale for $9.99. It's the cheapest I've seen it for, so I figured I'd post it up here for you guys.

Last cleaning I took my wire hanger "ball retention ring" mod off the top of the thing and wouldn't you know it the ball immediately disappeared again.  Stupid thing...  It's like it is actually actively trying to escape the base or something. I spend all my time digging the ball out from underneath whatever is most heavy and inconveniently low to reach in the room - and thats IF I saw where the damn thing rolled.  For some reason, anything I drop in this room does a bermuda triangle type of navigation to wherever it lands - the basic laws of gravity physics seem not to apply in this room for dropped items of any size.

Anybody else spend more time UNDER the desk than in front of it while  using these?  I'll post pics of my solution which was very easy and worked great when I re-implement it (which will be once I find the *^*%#^$ BALL again...)
