I've always hated the stupid download manager Adobe is trying to force on people these days. But, I found a link to their FTP site where one can directly download Acrobat Reader in a nice, no-nonsense way. I figured I wasn't the only person here who dislikes this type of download manager, so here's link:

You can always use an alternative PDF reader: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/

Used to use Foxit, but got put off by the adware-ish nature of it. I use Sumatra (http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/free-pdf-reader.html) which is lightweight and open source. I miss the tabs that Foxit had though.

Adobe's one is terrible. Last I checked, it pre-loads itself into RAM everything you boot Windows to speed up the load times for opening PDFs...

It goes like Adobe < Foxit < PDF-XChange < Sumatra. I found out about the latter only a short while ago and it is so cool.

Evince have a Windows build that I use on Windows machines.

Ninite (http://ninite.com/) will install Sumatra, Foxit, or Adobe Reader for you without prompting or bo****.  Really handy for new installs.

+1 foxit small and fast, many addons possible
