Currently redesigning this post, bear with me^^.

I just received a G80-3000 (blue) and a G80-1800 (black) today and have to say, it was an absolute pleasure doing business with Ascaii! Couldn't have felt better-informed about the process if I bought it from a friend in the same town. I've already taken 42 blue switches out of the G80-3000 and put them in the alpha-block of the 1800 which I'm typing on right now. I like blues, I have to say! So I guess I'll order a few more once I've convinced a few more people over here of the necessity to own a mechanical keyboard...

Layout is the same, just you need different keycaps.

Buy keycaps here:
Doubleshot replacements Round Three (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13664)

Or if you can live with US-layout caps and want them genuine Cherry:
5kg of double shots (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=14105).

thanks 7bit!

Currently testing Model M boards, will be adding later tonight. Currently typing this on a near mint 1391403. This brings back memories of my elementary school computer lab, wow.

All IBM Model M boards tested, except two terminal boards. All keys functional on ALL Model M boards.
Also, one working condition Model M2 found.

Well I bought one of thouse Goupil boards but the keys are terribly yellowed and shiny (see here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13660)). I would like to replace the keycaps so if you have a spare board that has the same layout do let me know. DE layout is fine for me.

I have a brand new and unused cherry g80-1800 with doubleshot keycaps, but it is currently still on hold for someone. Not sure how much of a point it would be though, since you'd be paying for a functioning board.

Hi, I'm interested in buying one of the donor 'Cherry G80-3000 Blue' boards (are there still any left?). The problem is that I live in Australia so I am unsure of how much the postage might cost. I checked Deutsch post and got 13.9 Euros for airmail which would be surprising if it were true. Could you please confirm this and get back to me. If this is right could you please put a donor board on hold for me.

Cheers, Jack Allison

P.S. I am assuming that 'donor' means that the board is fine but a little scratched, and that all the mx blues inside are fine and ready to be taken out and put into another keyboard. If this conclusion is wrong please tell me.
Thanks again!

In general, it also usually means something is wrong with the board. Missing switches, cords, non-functional in some way, etc.

But enough spare parts that work that it's worth harvesting them.

Also, welcome to geekhack!

Yes, I do indeed have some remaining. They are either pretty dirty or yellowed but the switches seem fine. 13,90€  for the uninsured dhl päckchen is accurate, not much room for padding, but it would work.

OK, I'm pretty much sold. I'd just like to confirm these do have cherry mx blues inside, and that i can remove the entire module without breaking. I am just worried because this (http://www.overclock.net/keyboards/491752-mechanical-keyboard-guide.html) site said that the Cherry G80-3000 LSCRC-2 had blues and the Cherry G80-3000 had browns.

I mean I want to be able to unsolder the key modules (shown here (http://media.digikey.com/photos/Cherry%20Switch%20Photos/MX1A-E1NW.jpg)) from the pcb and then be able to put them onto another pcb.

Actually, could I take you up on that offer of a photo? It would be very helpful as I'm not really sure what its going to be like.

It is a classic with AT connector, without Win key.
But i think the case has enough space for a blue cube mod for usb.

On a side note, i found another one yesterday, with lasered caps, AT plug, and also without win key, which i would sell for 35.

Speaking of the blue cube, there is a usb extender so you needn't worry about room for the cube to fit when plugging in.

Seems these are all old boards up to the mid-'90s, and the only ones using browns at the time were Cherry's ergos (now worth a small fortune by themselves). Even later on, browns remained very uncommon here. Things only changed once Filcos became available.

I'm kinda surprised that there haven't been any Chicony KB-5182s yet.

Funnily enough I have a chicony waiting for me next time i go grab boards, haven't checked the switch type yet. And yes, these are primarily early 90s boards, so the chances of browns is miniscule.

I would definitely be interested in one of the donor Model M keyboards.  I just wonder how much I'll be hit with in duties and taxes for shipping to the US.

Hmm, just leaving question here, if you come up with board I'm realy intrested in, how much is shipping to Finland?

Also, just considering, is it generaly possible to solder ps/2 to din connector, and does it work with USB boxes??

shipping in europe is 20€ for a 5kg box. Meaning it is possible to ship 3 keyboards for the same price as one.

And yes AT/DIN and ps2 are compatible, I have several adapters here I can always throw in free of charge. Or if you would prefer to have a ps2 cable, Sixty here on GH has a few dozen coiled ps2 cables from cherry boards that you could just solder on to one of my AT Cherry boards.
Also, I don't think there should be any problems using a usb adapter either.

Anything not marked as sold on the main page remains. There are a few more things I have that I haven't gotten around to listing on geekhack yet, but there are a few more pics on my thread on deskthority. Two that come to mind are a Cherry prototype keyboard and a black OEM qtronix board with cherry blues.
LINKY (http://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=71)

Also picked up a very good looking g80-1000 HFD with blues today. Pretty near Mint/new looking. I'll add some pics sometime soon, working a lot, so time is scarce.

Hey Ascii,

I´d be interested in one of your "G80-1800 Doubleshot Ps2 with win keys" if you happen to catch one of those.
If you ever come across a Mx-Brown board, please tell me as the only options with German Layout and Brown switches feel a little pricey to me :/

Greetings from somewhat sunny Hamburg

Hi there.
Currently my supply is on hold as both my girlfriend and son had to be operated in the last two weeks. I'm just too out of it at the moment, to go digging for treasure. I will update the thread once I have more.

And as for browns...the only vintage board out there with browns would be an mx 5000...which I would be selling, but the pricetag would be steep. I do wish I'd find one of these =D.

Oh, All the best to your family.

Im in no rush anyway. Cant really afford a new mechanical at the moment so I just gotta be patient to find the right deal. Your G80-1800 appears to be the first one fitting my needs (Win/Fn Key, reachable F-Keys, German Layout, affordable, compact size, w/o clicky switches)

..If only there was a German noppo choc mini

Hi, I made an account just to ask about your keyboards xD (been lurking for awhile lol)

How many of the Cherry G80-1000 LFADE do you still have for sale? And what kind of condition are they in, are they fully working and everything? And how much would shipping be to the US? (California, if it makes a difference)

Thanks in Advance!

-Ryan

Edit: They're PC compatible right?

Welcome to GH!
I have 4 remaining. PC compatible, and ill include ps2 adapters for them. Different levels of use: some are dirtier then others, some have some yellowing. There might be a few switches that are worn, so they arent as crisp as others, they are all used boards. Either way, i'll test them to make sure they work before cash is sent.
Shipping to the US is a rip off:
a 5kg package costs 35€, so I would recommend combining orders with someone else to save shipping costs or getting several boards. I recently invested into some real packing material so I should be able to fit 3-4 boards in a 5kg package.
