Title: where can I find red switch keyboards?
Post by: calavera on Sat, 08 January 2011, 19:28:06
I'm looking for cherry red switch keyboards. Preferably tenkeyless. I've heard ebay has them occasionally but I have no clue what to look for. I also heard that red switches are Asia exclusive. So where can I find some?

Only cherry red board I've seen is this one on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Cherry-G80-3494-Keyboard-Black-G80-3494-Linear-Lycus-2-/290516244053?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item43a41e1655). It's a decent one though; PCB-mounted and NKRO. Reviews have been good. Not tenkeyless though and shipping is a bit much.

shipping really kills it. I've found that exact at a wholesale in S.Korean website too.

FWIW, here's a review of this keyboard (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:11784).

May be more work than you want to perform, but you can get in on the 50g spring group buy (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13251), then buy a board with cherry blacks (preferably PCB mount for the easier spring swap) and just replace all the springs. It won't be a true cherry red board, but will feel the same.

I'm going to do this to my Cherry MX-11900 (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:14080). Not tenkeyless, but not as wide as a standard board. Also, it is 2KRO, just an FYI.
