So this company is making a commodore 64 remake, that basically uses an atom itx motherboard in a c64 replica shell. It comes with a form of linux called "workbench", but looks like it can also boot as a c64.
Interestingly, though, they say right on their page that it uses cherry switches that click- so it's almost certainly going to be blues.

Look at these awesome key caps!
Text is centered and in all-caps:

So my Round 3 (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13664) keys are full in trend!
I wonder if these are double shot.
Anybody in for Chocolate-brown key caps?

Here's a bigger keyboard [strike]pic[/strike] render:
Fixed! We already discussed the new c64 over here (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13772), and I came to this conclusion:
Those renders look even less realistic than the truly ergonomic. I will not believe a word I read about either of those until an actually working prototype shows up.
Yeah, I'm a hopeless pessimist.

Imo mahogany red, but I really don't see convincing many of you guys on that one =P It really is a lovely, distinct color that goes with (nearly) everything, "pops" well, is classy, and yet isn't *too* flashy. I mean, l really love earthtones, and the brown certainly has that retro thing going for it when done right, like this, if you like that, but imo matching shades of brown to other colors gets iffy fast for not having it come out as some terrible mess, especially when you don't have control over what those other colors may precisely be. It's way too easy to end up with some awful dingy ~70s appliance look =x

Chocolate-cream miniGuru. Mmmm...

Crap, sorry for the duplicate post.
First sixty poops on my vivanco keyboards, and now points out my dupe thread. I officially have a NEMESIS! :)

load "*",8,1

..
That is a pretty decent-looking keyboard.
The idea here, that is, putting an ATX mobo into the keyboard case makes me think...
....similiar sort of thing would be interesting in a modified 122-key terminal "M" keyboard.

Does anyone know why the letters on keycaps are not centered exactly, as they are on the keyboard above, on regular keyboards? Centered looks better to me.

Lettering for up to 3 or even 4 different levels while keeping looks consistent?

must have!

how big is the market for such a thing?

It is just a coincidence, I swear! lol

It's one of those French things, like requiring freakishly long pinky fingers to press shift or return. (That is, it's in ISO 9995.)

I also like the looks of the unit, but I have to admit that there was a time that describing any part of the Commodore 64 as 'lovely' or 'classy' would have gotten you laughed off of whatever bulletin board you had dialed into... :bolt:

Hell yeah, who wouldn't want to type on a 10 cm high dark beige & brown keyboard! It's the perfect gift for grandpa!

IBM came up with the idea of left-justifying the letters on keycaps instead.
This way, the keys would be coded consistently. Thus, on the QWERTY keys, the letters are now on the top left of the key, showing that these keys only produce capital letters when the shift key is held down.
When keys have an extra meaning, the alternate characters for the key can be placed on the right-hand side of the key.
Leaving this blank space on the right side, combined with making the tops of the keys cylindrical instead of spherical, facilitates using clear plastic overlay stickers for the tops of the keys which have the extra characters printed on.
