Title: Media Keys & iTunes solution?
Post by: dxong on Thu, 13 January 2011, 16:59:04
So I recently got my [thread=14113]Zowie Celeritas[/thread] and with a very convenient feature, media keys for my iTunes.

Though with no extra driver like with my Logitech, the media keys wouldnt function for my iTunes unless the program was in focus. Seems like a common problem for most keyboards with multi media keys.

However I just stumbled upon a solution that will help.

a single dll file will solve the problem, and the file can be downloaded from here (http://www.everythingitunes.com/os/windows/2008-01-04/mmkeysdll/)

I am sure many of you have stumbled upon this problem and already found a solution like this or an alternative one but will share with rest of you who will get this problem in near future.

I actually had the opposite problem before. iTunes would always steal the commands from my G11 unless Foobar2000 had focus. There was a specific dll for WMP, but the iTunes support seemed to be built into the rest of everything.

Media keys are neat :)

never thought the problem would be in the opposite way but no reason to have 2 media players open at same time.

But foobar is an excellent program for those without media keys and I would have gone with foobar if my media keys would still not function with iTunes.

At the time I was using iTunes for podcasts and my ipod touch and Foobar2000 for actual music. Kept iTunes open so it'd always have the most recent podcasts.

I just ended up keeping it open only once a day or so, and closing it after I noticed.

Ever tried using google reader for podcast subs?  Web apps are lightweight and portable so i tend to gravitate towards them.

Yeah, I'm currently using my Nexus One + the Google Listen app to download them straight to my phone.
