Title: opening up a cherry blue
Post by: kpurd on Fri, 21 January 2011, 00:26:31
I recently bought razer blackwidow and sadly only a few weeks into its life i got the smallest amount of juice right in between my 3 and 4 keys. At first there was no problem but a few days later i noticed it was sticky. If i blow into the keys they work totally fine for about 30 presses then being to degrade until they are sticky again.

I've found threads were people were having similar problems but rather than busting this thing open and trying to solder it myself I was wondering if there was a way to open the actual switch itself. On the switch i see two indents one above and below i'm wondering if i squeeze those together and pull will I be able to just open the switch and clean the spring and whatnot, or am i going to have to take the thing off before i can open it?

ALSO if i DO have to do all the soldering buisness is it possible to put other kinda of cherry, like have my wasd be browns or blacks or does a keyboard have to be all the same colour?

Any help appreciated:)

Sadly the tutorial for the fork o' death has all broken links. Is there another link or maybe someone has the tutorial posted somewhere else??
I've never even touched a soldering iron so i'm very hesitant to crack open the keyboard and start melting keys off:(
