So I heard that the variable weight realforce topre from ek are 45g for most keys and less for the keys like A and Q.
Having tried a brown switch before and didn't like it so decided to keep my blues. I didn't like the browns due to the fact that I found that I can easily hit other keys when I was typing. So it ended up with me typing with more mistakes.
Since browns are 45g and the tope is also 45g and lower, I am in a dilemma or whether to get it or not.
O I want the white keyboard because I actually look at it at times. If there was the white 55g I might get that but there isn't :(

Yea, I've never heard of a white all-55g existing. However IMO while the Topres are a similar weighting they are a very different switch and I am much more precise on them than on browns. I believe it's because the tactile bump happens quite soon after you press down. Also variable weight won in the switch poll in comparisons of folks who owned both, for what that's worth.

I've an all-45g HHKB, and I sometimes make accidental presses when Im typing on it after extended periods of typing on a stiffer board. Usually it happens when Im resting my fingers on it, and I accidentally press too hard. Then again, after using the Topre for a bit, I stop doing that.
I don't really believe in the idea of people being "heavy typers" - it's all just muscle memory relative to what your hands are used to. If I type on a Topre for ages, buckling springs feel very stiff. If I type on buckling springs, Topres feel too light. Continuous typing readjusts your hands to the required force.

cool thanks for the input, good call on the tactile bump, i forgot that browns don't have that

Well they do but its nowhere near as noticeable.

I was a little bit skeptical about the whole variable weight thing, but I can assure you that it's an excellent way to type. Granted, that's just my opinion, but I was unsure like you are and I've never been happier about a purchase.

I was in the same boat as your braddah. Coming from an all 45g HHKB I was concerned about the feeling of variable weight switches. I was planning to do Ripsters all 45g mod, but really after getting the KB and using it... I really don't feel the need to. But there is always that option.

I would go with a Variable Weighted Realforce.
The different isnt much even at gaming its hard to notice.
The 55g ESC key is a bit stiff for my taste.

wish there was a store out there to try them in new york

I don't believe there are any stores where you can try Realforce boards, outside of Asia.
